Boom Boom Rocket Fires Off on Xbox Live

Electronic Arts said today their first Xbox Live Arcade game has now debuted. Boom Boom Rocket, conceived by EA’s Pogo.com casual games design team and developed by Bizarre Creations, is now available on Xbox Live Arcade for 800 Microsoft Points.

Boom Boom Rocket, described as a "hypnotic rhythm music game", has players setting off rockets to the beat of the music while traveling through a 3D cityscape. The fireworks go off timed to 10 original tracks created by Ian Livingstone. Players can play in single player mode or go head-to-head against a friend on the same console.

The game features three modes of gameplay, according to EA: Normal, Speed and multiplayer head-to-head. Each song is choreographed into three skill levels. Chaining fireworks to fill the bonus meter activates the psychedelic bonus mode for extra points. Players can unlock new firework designs by mastering each music track. Players can utilize the connected online element and see how their scores compare with other players on a leaderboard.

“The joint effort between the Pogo.com creative team and the talented team at Bizarre Creations evolved the idea into what the game plays like today,” said Spencer Brooks, EA’s Boom Boom Rocket producer, in a statement. “Seeing people’s response to the game itself has been such a great experience – it’s what making games is all about."

Building a library of games is one of the slowest, most methodical, and often most expensive part of a gamer's journey. $40, $50, and $60 console releases all add up over the years for console gamers. That's why game passes are so great, you get big variety in games but only have to pay monthly. This is especially true if you aren't a completionist and prefer to dip your toes into a new game ever few days. In any event, that's why we're so happy to see this Xbox Game Pass Ultimate deal, which brings one month of the service down to $15 from $17, a savings of about 12%. Just tap the button below to grab the deal and start playing (it's a code, so there's no delivery time, you can play as soon as you finish finding your game of choice). Alternatively, keep reading to see more about the deal and see more about why we like Xbox Game Pass Ultimate so much.

Why you should try Xbox Game Pass Ultimate
The Xbox Game Pass Ultimate has hundreds of games to choose from, includes some new games on day one, and gives you access to EA Play. Even hit titles like Starfield were released day one on Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, so you never know what big title might pop up next. You can play the games on your Xbox console or PC, and the games have cloud gaming access. That means that while one of the best gaming laptops might still be the ideal remote gaming setup, it isn't required.

Xbox Live experienced a major sign-in outage Tuesday afternoon that made it impossible to log into your Xbox profile to play games online.

I noticed it after attempting to sign into my Xbox Live account on my Xbox Series X. I got an error message telling me to "try again in a while." A quick glance at X (formerly Twitter) confirmed that I was not the only person to have this issue. "We are aware that some users have been disconnected from Xbox Live. We're investigating! Please follow here and on our status page for updates," the official X account for Xbox Support tweeted.

You'll soon no longer need an Xbox console if you have an Amazon Fire TV. Microsoft and Amazon announced Thursday that the Xbox app is coming to Fire TV devices in July.

The Xbox app works with Cloud Gaming, which means with an Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscription, you can stream a huge catalog of games from the Xbox library, including many first- and third-party titles that come to the service on launch day. Huge games like Starfield, Senua's Saga: Hellblade 2, and the Fallout series are just some examples, and the available games are always changing.
