This Breaking Bad remake shows the power of the GTA V movie editor

Breaking Bad GTA V Tribute | Rockstar Editor
The weekend is drawing to a close, so you’re likely to be needing some form of diversion to distract you from the fact that tomorrow’s Monday — and we’d like to suggest this Breaking Bad remake filmed inside the high-definition world of Grand Theft Auto V.

Modders and moviemakers are having all kinds of fun with the Rockstar Editor software built into the PC edition of the game, and this is one of the best examples of the form we’ve seen yet. From the iconic opening scenes to the yellow suits, from the memorable lines to the cars of the series, it’s all here — kudos to Sachitha Harshana and the effort he’s put in here.

We don’t know too much about the making of the video, but Harshana has shared some of his computer specs: A 3.4GHz Intel Core i7 4770, 16GB of RAM, and a ZOTAC GTX 970 graphics card helped to make the marvelous clip you can see above. With hardware and software like this accessible to the average amateur, who needs Hollywood any more?

Harshana isn’t the first person to mix one of the biggest game franchises of our time with one of our most notorious television shows — individual scenes from the series have also been shot using the Rockstar Editor. Take a browse around YouTube and you’ll find a whole host of impressive clips made with the built-in editing tools.

The game’s arrival on PC also means plenty of mods and hacks for gamers to play around with. Just be careful which ones you’re installing, because they’re not all good for your hardware system.

GTA V is leaving Xbox Game Pass again, but Skate is in
The protagonists of GTA V pose for the camera.

Microsoft has announced the titles that are entering and exiting its Xbox Game Pass service in August. The biggest name is Grand Theft Auto V, which will be leaving the platform on August 8 for both cloud and console play. In exchange, Microsoft is adding indie heavyweights like Hades, Katamari Damacy Reroll, and two entries in the Skate franchise to Game Pass in August. Starting on August 10, the service will also feature several titles from racing game developer Codemasters, including Dirt 4, F1 2020, and more.

Xbox Game Pass encompasses traditional console gaming on Xbox, PC gaming through Windows, and cloud gaming for a variety of mobile devices. Each of the games coming this month is available on one or more of these three platforms. All of this month's titles are available on PC, with the exception of Skate 3 and Skate, which are available on cloud gaming and console, respectively.

The best graphics settings for GTA V

Grand Theft Auto V is still a demanding game in 2021, even putting the best graphics cards in their place. If you have a new RTX 3000-series graphics card -- first, lucky you -- and a recent CPU from Intel or AMD, you should be able to tear through GTA V without any issues. If you have anything older, though, you'll need the best graphics settings for GTA V.

We tested all of the graphics settings in GTA V to find which ones made a difference and which ones didn't. You can vastly improve your frame rate without giving up much visual quality if you know what settings to tweak.
How we tested the best graphics settings for GTA V
We tested each of GTA V's graphical settings at 1080p using the internal benchmark. 1080p is, by far, the most common resolution for PC games. GTA V's benchmark has five scenes, each of which produces a frame average. We took those averages and averaged them again to get a single number for each of the graphical settings.

New Elder Scrolls mod adds more than 160 new quests to Morrowind
A screenshot from the Abecean Shores Morrowind mod.

The Elder Scrolls VI isn't coming anytime soon, despite how badly we all want it. Even Avowed -- the next closest thing to an Elder Scrolls game we're likely to see -- isn't out until mid-February. If you need something to tide you over, a new mod for The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind adds a huge amount of content to the game that makes it worth firing up this 22-year-old gem.

Abecean Shores, a section of the much-larger and still unfinished Project Cyrodiil, is now available. If you recognize the name, then you'll probably be able to guess the setting: the shores of Cyrodiil, the Imperial homeland and the setting for The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion. The mod creators have added a truly ridiculous amount of content into Morrowind, including more than 160 new quests, according to PCGamesN.
