If you were starting to get burnt out on detached irony from the recent “I’m Not A Hipster” Update, now you can balance that out with some good old-fashioned “Rah-Rah ‘Murica!” patriotism in The Independence Day Special Update, live today on GTA Online. Trucker hats remain equally-applicable for either update.

The free DLC adds two new vehicles: the stately Sovereign motorcycle, and the super-sized Liberator monster truck, perfect for rolling right over those dinky, limp-wristed European cars. You can also wreak havoc, Minuteman-style, with the classic Musket, or let everyone for miles around know that you’re the most patriotic with the Firework Rocket Launcher.

Ammu-Nation now stocks four different types of fireworks with variable fuse lengths, usable in the Interactions menu to create your own perfect spectacles. Pleasure Pier has also opened up the Ferris Whale and Leviathan Roller Coaster for more good, clean fun. The update also comes with new options for showing everyone just where you came from with “Made in the U.S.A.” t-shirts, backwoods mullets, and a majestic bald eagle mask. Stay tuned for forthcoming details about the special 4-day Independence Day event coming this weekend.

The special content will be available to redeem until mid-July. In addition to the holiday goodies, the update also introduces the usual host of gameplay tweaks and bug fixes, such as adjustments to what actions influence your Mental State, and to what extent. A full list of gameplay changes is available at the Rockstar support page.

To download the update, just fire up GTA Online on your internet-connected console and you will be automatically prompted to download the new patch.

If you were hoping Grand Theft Auto 6 would launch day one on Xbox Game Pass, you're out of luck. Take-Two Interactive execs have been hesitant to launch the company's games on subscription services on Xbox Game Pass, and that will continue to be the case, according to the CEO's recent comments.

In an interview with Gamesindustry.biz ahead of the company's latest financial report, CEO Strauss Zelnick candidly said that while he believes the addition of the Call of Duty franchise will push players to the service for a bit, it won't affect Take-Two's release strategy.
