Bethesda Softworks and 2K (the publishing label of Take-Two Interactive have announced The Elder Scrolls IV: Shivering Isles, and expansion pack for its award-winning Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion video game.
The expansion pack will offer more than 30 hours of new gameplay by enabling players to explore the new realm of Sheogorath, the game’s Daedric Prince of Madness. Sheogorath is split between two extremes—Mania and Dementia—with enormous dungeons mirroring the roots of trees. Shivering Isles will feature more than a dozen new creatures and a wealth of new items, ingredients, and spells, as well as new armor and weapons. Players can continue with their existing games and characters, or create all new characters to explore the expansion pack.
“The enthusiastic response we’ve received to our downloadable content has been overwhelming, and we’re excited to bring Oblivion fans a full expansion,” said Vlatko Andonov, Bethesda Softworks president, in a statement. “The world we’ve created for Shivering Isles is unlike anything you’ve seen or played in Oblivion and we can’t wait for folks to play it.”
Shivering Isles for Windows will be sold “this spring”—which we take to be sometime before June here in the northern hemisphere—through traditional retail channels, while the version of the game for Xbox 360 will be available only through Microsoft’s Xbox Live online service. No pricing information has been released.
