F.E.A.R. 3 shows off ‘Contractions,’ its latest online game mode

Even if you are not a fan of the series, you have to hand it to Day 1 Studios’ F.E.A.R. 3 for trying some new things. It might fail, but on the other hand it might offer the best and most original online multiplayer experience of the year. Time will tell.

Three game types have already been announced.  Most recently a new game mode called “Soul King,” where you possess AI-controlled enemies in order to use their weapons and collet souls was revealed. It joins “Soul Survivor,” where one player is a specter and must possess an enemy to kill the others, and “F*#@ing Run,” where you and three others must fight together through enemies and run from Alma’s “wall of death.”

The fourth online game mode is “Contractions,” a horde-style game mode where you and three others fight together and face waves of enemies. With each defeated wave, the level of difficulty increase, and in that, it is similar to Call of Duty’s zombie mode. But as each new level begins, fog descends to obscure your field of vision. If you survive long enough, you then must face Alma, who will kill anyone she sees.

Check out the trailer below, and look for F.E.A.R. 3 to hit the PC, PS3 and Xbox 360 on June 21.

This week, an unexpected entry has joined those ranks. Piglet's Big Game, a 2003 video game tie-in with Piglet's Big Movie that released on the PlayStation 2, PC, and GameCube, has gone viral, with some people calling it their new favorite survival horror game. Yes, you read that correctly.

The game started gaining traction with an X post from user Jaxonloid, who was shocked that there seemed to be clear horror game music on the soundtrack.
