The seminal 1993 point-and-click adventure game, Gabriel Knight: Sins of the Fathers, is getting an HD overhaul with the 20th Anniversary Edition, coming to PC and Mac on October 15. The original was designed by Jane Jensen for ’90s adventure game powerhouse Sierra.

Jensen is again at the helm of the remake with new studio Pinkerton Road in collaboration with Phoenix Online Studios. The 20th Anniversary Edition revamps the original with lush, high definition backgrounds, a remastered soundtrack, and new puzzles and scenes to further flesh out the story. It will also include a range of never before seen behind-the-scenes content for both the original and the remake.

The original game has been widely praised as one of the best-written adventure games from the genre’s peak in ’90s. It follows the eponymous Gabriel Knight, aspiring author and owner of a rare book shop, as he investigates a series of grizzly, voodoo murders in New Orleans and is pulled further and further into the seedy underbelly of the Big Easy. The CD-ROM version had an all-star voice cast featuring the likes of Tim Curry, Mark Hamill, and Michael Dorn.

Gabriel Knight: Sins of the Fathers 20th Anniversary Edition is available now for pre-order from Steam, GOG, and other online retailers, and will come out on October 15, 2014. It will retail for $20 at launch, but pre-order discounts are available.

Assassin’s Creed Infinity has a new name and no microtransactions

Ubisoft quietly confirmed new details on Assassin's Creed Infinity, a hub that's set to launch alongside Assassin's Creed Shadows, on the franchise's official Reddit on Friday. It not only revealed that Animus Hub would be the official name, but that the rewards would be free.

The post was in response to a datamined leak (since taken down via DMCA request) that purportedly revealed a lot of information about the Animus Hub and how it would integrate with Assassin's Creed Shadows. Along with revealing the new name, we learned that the Animus Hub would include a battle pass with cosmetics that can be purchased with Isu Coins, the in-game currency. This led to people assuming that there would be microtransactions involved.
