Terminals have a legacy in the Halo series extending all the way back to the pre-Master Chief days of Bungie‘s Marathon. Finding them all in Halo 3 unlocked an Achievement, but the text-based presentation could’ve been improved upon. Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary, the HD-enhanced November 15 re-release of the first game in the series, will do just that.

In the newly updated game, which actually runs two engines simultaneously to allow players to switch between the old graphics and the new ones with the press of a button, accessing a terminal will take you to an animated cutscene that fills in more of the back story in the Halo universe. If there are any nods to what players can expect from Halo 4 in Anniversary, expect to find them there. It’s a safe bet too that you probably can expect to find them there.

Halo Infinite may include a battle royale mode after all, if a datamined file from its technical preview is to be believed.

The audio clip appears to be what a player would hear at the start of a match, just like Slayer or Capture the Flag. This clip was first discovered on ResetEra and was relayed by Video Games Chronicle.

Halo Infinite will support crossplay and cross-progression across PC and Xbox consoles when it launches later this year. Microsoft touts Halo Infinite as a "premier PC experience," that will include features made specifically for that platform. The company says it wants to "make sure that Halo is serving the PC community."

This news comes as part of Microsoft's renewed commitment to PC, as well as Xbox consoles. The company is concerned with allowing as many people to play its games -- on as many platforms as possible. That's why Halo Infinite will feature multiplayer cross-progression support, allowing players to retain progress that "will follow you across all platforms," said Matt Booty, Head of Xbox Game Studios.
