How to get Kate Bishop in Marvel’s Avengers

Marvel’s Avengers has just gotten its first new character: Kate Bishop. This serves as the first of many characters that will be added for free over time to extend the game’s longevity. Bishop is known as the protégé of Clint Barton, better known as Hawkeye — and uses many long-range attacks, thanks to her bow. Square Enix has announced that Barton will also be added as a playable character later down the road, but for now, you can enjoy Kate Bishop for free.

The game doesn’t specifically tell you how to start playing as Bishop, and she’s not available right away. Before you can start playing as this iteration of Hawkeye, you’ll need to complete a few objectives. In this guide, we’ll walk you through everything you’ll need to start playing as the game’s new character. Here’s how to get Kate Bishop in Marvel’s Avengers.

How to play as Kate Bishop

As soon as you boot up the game and download the latest update, you’ll find a new Operation on the main menu labeled Taking AIM. Select this, and you’ll begin a new quest that will eventually unlock Kate Bishop.

After the intro cutscene, head to the War Table and select the Shield Substation Outpost found in the Pacific Northwest.

Go to each mission marker while talking to NPCs in this area, and eventually, you’ll be able to boot up the War Table again to start the Masks campaign mission — again found in the Pacific Northwest. Boot it up, and you’ll be sent on a mission where you must defeat a slew of enemies that eventually lead to Bishop. It’s recommended to be around power level 30 for this mission since it gets pretty tough.

Defeat all the enemies and follow the mission objectives until you reach the Lockdown segment that requires you to capture various points and defend them from enemies. After this, you’ll be instructed to “rush to the hangar,” where you’ll meet Kate Bishop and fight alongside her. Take out the robots in this room, and the mission will end.

After that, you’ll unlock Kate Bishop, and you’ll be able to start the Young Avenger campaign mission that dives into the character’s backstory.

Keep in mind, Kate Bishop will start off at level one and will need to be leveled up just like you did with your other Avengers heroes. Being a version of Hawkeye, it’s no surprise that Bishop excels with a bow and is best used at long range. However, she does have some close quarters melee attacks that you’ll want to try out because they can be quite effective. From here, just make sure you follow all of the prompts until you finish the Taking AIM set of missions. Just like the other characters, Bishop will have her own Challenge Card, which will reward you with goodies as you level up.

How to get Rare Tech Parts in Spider-Man 2
Peter and Miles perched next to each other in Marvel's Spider-Man 2.

The amount of upgrade materials in Marvel's Spider-Man 2 can make your head spin at times. From all the different tokens, parts, and plain skill points, it can be hard to keep them all straight, let alone where you find each one. The game does a decent job of letting you know what rewards any activity on the map will give you by highlighting it, but when you're hunting for Rare Tech Parts it can be a pain to slowly scroll around looking for a way to snag some. Plus, if you want to be efficient in getting them, it will take even longer. Here is how you can get Rare Tech Parts in Spider-Man 2 so you can get your upgrades done and save the day.
Best ways to get Rare Tech Parts
Technically Rare Tech Parts aren't any harder to get than other collectables like City Tokens, but are "rare" because you get them in much smaller quantities than normal Tech Parts. If you're hunting for them, your first stop should be any of the Prowler Stashes. These unlock very early in the story after Miles talks to his uncle and is sent to one to demonstrate how they work. Once you know how to solve the little environmental puzzles, they won't take you too long to get through, and they continue to appear as you move through the story. You get three for each you open.

Hunter Blinds are your next best source for Rare Tech Parts, giving five for any you complete, and are basically the opposite of Prowler Stashes. Instead of a little environmental puzzle to solve, these are combat (or stealth) focused encounters, so you can swap between them to add some variety to your Rare Tech Parts grind!

How to get City Tokens in Spider-Man 2

City Tokens are mostly used for unlocking new suits and suit styles but are occasionally required for other upgrades as well. If you're running low, the easiest method to get some is to complete Photo-ops. There are 23 of these scattered across the map for you to track down, and each one rewards you with two City Tokens just for snapping a quick picture. If you're a particularly skilled photographer then you can even get a lot of the shots without even stopping while swinging by.
