A new special edition console from Microsoft isn’t something new. Over the years, Xbox consoles have been a part of plenty of limited-edition collaborations, including a controller modeled after Deadpool’s backside. But its latest creation just takes the cake.

Microsoft has stuffed an entire Xbox Series X inside a giant alligator, and the fun part is that you could take this monstrosity home. Meet the new Xbox Series X-BITE, a one-of-a-kind console that looks like an alligator swallowed Microsoft’s gaming hardware whole. According to Xbox’s official announcement, the bizarre creation is part of a special giveaway celebrating the company’s upcoming trip to Florida.

Does your Xbox bite?

The Xbox Series X-BITE measures over five feet from snout to tail, making it one of the most outrageous console designs Microsoft has commissioned. The alligator’s body houses a fully functional Xbox Series X, visible through an illuminated Xbox Nexus logo. Its eyes sport Xbox-green irises with pupils inspired by the company’s iconic logo, while its wide-open jaws hold a custom Xbox Wireless Controller complete with bite marks.

Microsoft enlisted John Nolan Studio, a creature effects specialist whose work includes The Witcher, Jurassic World Dominion, and HBO’s upcoming Harry Potter series, to bring the reptilian creation to life. The studio used 3D modeling, sculpting, and fabrication to make an alligator look as realistic as possible. So no actual alligators were harmed in the process, thankfully.

Xbox recommends treating the X-BITE primarily as a display piece, despite the working console inside. And honestly, if I had a five-foot alligator console, that would be the center piece of my entire house.

Here’s how to win it

Microsoft has created exactly one Xbox Series X-BITE, and it’s giving it away through a social media sweepstakes. To enter, follow the official Xbox account on X, Instagram, or TikTok, repost the designated giveaway post, and manually add #XbiteSweepstakes. Your account must remain public for the entry to count.

The giveaway runs until November 10, 2026, at 11:59 pm PT, and is open to eligible US residents aged 18 and older. No purchase is necessary, and the potential winner will have 48 hours to claim the prize after being notified.

Steam has apparently been struggling to keep up with new game submissions. Developers have been forced to wait longer to get their games approved, which has caused Valve to step in to fix things. The company is putting stricter release requirements in place, including one which is absolutely hilarious. Valve needs developers to play their games through Steam before submitting them for review.

In an official Steamworks announcement, Valve acknowledged that a significant increase in game and store page submissions has overwhelmed its review process. The company typically aims to complete game build reviews within three to five days. However, some are now taking up to 12 business days, with repeated reviews contributing heavily to the backlog.

AI has been making its way into video game development for a while now, but the recent developments have started raising some serious concerns. Popular games are being reverse-engineered with AI assistance, recreated for web browsers, and made playable on platforms they were never released for. Between all that, indie developers have started pulling down their demos over fears of getting copied. Anthropic has now stepped in with new restrictions for Claude Code.

The change was first spotted on X and subsequently confirmed by Anthropic's Addy Osmani. The new instructions prevent Claude from recreating specific existing games, even if they are renamed or presented as original projects. Users can still make original games, work on games within a genre, and use their own designs and assets.
