Game publisher Midway is getting a little out in front of announcements tied to next week’s E3 video game trade show, announcing a slate of titles it plans to show off…along with their anticipated ship dates.
"These games truly reflect our product strategy to develop top quality titles in a wide range of genres that appeal to all segments of the market," said Midway’s interim president and CEO Matthew Booty in a statement.
Fans of the Mortal Kombat franchise have been waiting for news on Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe, wherein Mortal Kombat characters like Sub-Zero and Scorpion get to take on DC Comics heros like Batman, the Flash, and (uh) Superman. The game features a new fighting system featuring Freefall Kombat and Klose Combat with a range of multi-tiered environments and arenas, and a single-player storyline features an intertangled plot with two "unique" perspectives. We’re thinking that unless your name is Doomsday taking on Supes isn’t going to go so well, but folks will be able to find out this fall on the Xbox 360 and PS3.
Midway will also show off Wheelman, featuring Vin Diesel as an agent trying to infiltrate the Barcelona underworld as a driver-for-hire in a "gripping" story of gangs, intrigue, corruption, and lots of cinematic Hollywood-style action. Expect it this fall for PC, Xbox 360, and PS3.
Other highlights of Midways’s lineup include Game Party 2 for the Nintendo Wii, Blitz the League II (a followup to the company’s gonzo football title), the wresting and action game TNA iMPACT, Unreal Tournament 3 (if we have to explain this one, you’ve already been fragged), and This Is Vegas, a response to titles like Grand Theft Auto where a player works through the ranks to rule Sin City.
