Neverwinter Nights 2 Expansion Pack Coming

Atari and Obsidian Entertainment, developers of Neverwinter Nights 2, today announced an expansion pack for the highly popular PC role playing game. Neverwinter Nights 2: Mask of the Betrayer will debut this fall.

In Neverwinter Nights 2: Mask of the Betrayer, said Atari, players return the Forgotten Realms shortly after the events in the original game. Following the climactic battle against the King of Shadows, "the player awakens alone and stranded deep beneath the earth. Surrounded by a horde of evil spirits, the player embarks on an epic adventure that reveals his true destiny." The expansion pack is set in the nation of Rashemen and will offer gaming features such as a new campaign, epic levels, dozens of new feats and spells, new races, base classes and prestige classes, new companions, new weapons, armor and crafting options, hordes of new monsters and enhanced modding tools.

"Neverwinter Nights 2: Mask of the Betrayer’s engrossing campaign will conclude the storyline that began in the original Neverwinter Nights 2 and focus on combat, exploration and classic D&D dungeon-crawling," said Feargus Urquhart, CEO, Obsidian Entertainment, in a statement. "We’re also making new advances in story and character development as well as improving upon the acclaimed companion Influence System used in both Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic 2: The Sith Lords and Neverwinter Nights 2."

Every choice matters in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2
two men in wooden pillory on stage with crowd in front of them.

Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 reminds me a little bit of Dungeons & Dragons. You can play the protagonist any way you want, but the choices you make have consequences -- not just for the ending but throughout the campaign.

Warhorse Studios' next installment of the Kingdom Come: Deliverance series comes with about double the content as the original and plenty of attention to detail, especially in its interactions and how they affect your playthrough. The sequel follows Henry, the hero from the first game, on a new adventure in 15th century Europe to avenge his murdered parents. You don't need to play the first game to jump into this one, but it did catch me off guard how the realism clashed with the typical fantasy RPGs I knew. My one-hour demo was a promising peek into Henry's new life that intrigued me with its entertaining dialogue and quirks.
