The latest trailer for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles arrived online this week, and along with offering up a bit more footage from the upcoming reboot of the big-screen franchise, it provides a clearer picture of all four half-shelled heroes.
The new trailer made its debut on the movie’s official Facebook page, and while it recycles quite a bit from the first teaser trailer that premiered earlier this month, it also provides the first good look at Raphael and Donatello, two members of the team who hadn’t received close-up shots in earlier previews.
Raphael appears around the 1:00 mark in the trailer sporting his usual red mask and wielding a pair of sai, and is otherwise right in line — in terms of costume — with the character’s traditional look. While much has been made of the Turtle characters’ facial transformation in the upcoming film, Raphael doesn’t appear (so far) to be straying too far from his comic-book and cartoon roots with his outfit.
Donatello, on the other hand, has a more unique look for his appearance in the trailer (around the 1:02 mark), with taped-together glasses and a variety of strange machinery strapped to his head and back (as seen above). It seems safe to assume that the character’s canonical obsession with gadgets and technology will carry over to the new film.
Along with providing a nice look at all of the Turtles, the new trailer features a few blink-and-you-miss-it shots of franchise villain Shredder (William Fichtner) and the Turtles’ mentor, Splinter (voiced by Tony Shalhoub). Oh, and there’s quite a bit of Megan Fox as the Turtles’ human pal April O’Neil in there too.
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles is directed by Jonathan Liebesman (Wrath of the Titans) and produced by Michael Bay. It’s currently scheduled for an August 8 premiere in theaters.
