Watch the anime action of Persona 5’s first gameplay trailer

Atlus has released the first gameplay trailer for its upcoming role-playing game, Persona 5. The fifth main installment in the Shin Megami Tensei: Persona series of RPGs is set to arrive in the West on PlayStation 3 and Playstation 4 sometime in 2015.

We still don’t know much about the game, though one of the characters is apparently a large cat. The menus also stand out as particularly stylish, with a dynamic, graphic novel aesthetic that looks like Guy Ritchie’s take on manga.

Producer/director Katsura Hashino provided a little more context on the game’s website, translated here by Siliconera:

“For this game, we’re going with a challenge that fuses together a juvenile school setting that is as large as life, together with a picaresque romance. In the previous game, we wrote a story that involved having a justice group chase down a  bad guy that could easily be feared by just about anyone. This time, it’s about a group of high school students that are being ‘chased’ by unexpected occurrences due to the justice they believe in. We’re writing [the story] to convey a thrilling everyday life in the shoes of these characters, that are as large as life, in this juvenile school setting.”

Alan Wake 2's new story expansion, The Lake House, is yet another short, spooky adventure in the Remedy Connected Universe, but it also contains the first look at the long-awaited sequel to 2019's Control -- and it's easy to miss.

Remedy has created a connected universe between its games, with the two main players right now being Control and Alan Wake 2. Control started by dropping easter eggs about Alan's whereabouts before straight-up reintroducing him in the AWE expansion. Meanwhile, Alan Wake 2 heavily features the Federal Bureau of Control (FBC) and introduces new lore into how it all functions.

The prince kicks a sand monster.

Many people consider the peak of the Prince of Persia games the Sands of Time trilogy on the PlayStation 2 generation These include Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time, Prince of Persia: Warrior Within, and Prince of Persia: The Two Thrones. After these games, the series only had two notable console releases, but neither really captured the same amount of acclaim as the prior trilogy.

After being essentially transformed into the Assassin's Creed series, many people thought the Prince of Persia franchise was dead and buried. However, Ubisoft isn't a publisher to let a franchise die and announced the Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake in 2020. Obviously, things have not gone to plan with this remake as we still don't have our hands on it. If you're curious what is going on with the Prince, we will rewind time to tell you the entire story.

I took the PS5 Pro for a first test drive. Now I’m a believer
A PS5 Pro that's floating in front of a gray background. It's turned to the side.

At Tokyo Game Show 2024, hundreds of thousands of people gathered to get their eyes and hands on the latest and greatest in interactive entertainment. Digital Trends was there checking out the hottest titles, including Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii, Dynasty Warriors: Origins, and The First Berzerker: Khazan (starring industry darling and class clown Ben Starr).

The largest presence at the event may have been Sony, and it was at its booth that I went hands-on with its newest hardware, the PlayStation 5 Pro, for the first time. I put the console through its paces and came away intrigued after seeing the stellar image quality and smooth action for myself. While it may be pricey, this upgrade may be what finally unlocks the graphical promises of this generation.
