Pokémon Presents event reveals a new open-world game and Diamond/Pearl remakes

The Pokémon Company held a Pokémon Presents livestream, which revealed a brand-new style of Pokémon game and a long-awaited remake of Pokémon Diamond and Pearl.

The big announcement was a new open-world game called Pokémon Legends: Arceus. The gameplay shows trainers traveling around a feudal version of the Sinnoh region to fight Pokémon. Players start at a home base and can freely travel the world filling up Sinnoh’s first Pokédex.

Nintendo describes the game as a “new approach” to the Pokémon series, calling it an action RPG. It’s gameplay iterates on the Wild Area idea featured in Pokémon Sword and Shield. The game will launch in early 2022.

Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl remake the 2006 Nintendo DS games with a new “chibi” art style. The games are developed by Ilca, which worked on Pokémon Home. The games are straight remakes of the originals and don’t use the style of Pokémon Let’s Go! The remakes are set to launch worldwide in late 2021.

The new games weren’t the only announcement during the 20-minute presentation. New Pokémon Snap got a new trailer showing off how its photography gameplay and grading system works. Photos can be edited and shared via online play. The game features a new lumina orb item that makes Pokémon glow.

As part of the 25th anniversary celebration, mobile games such as Pokémon Cafe Mix and Pokémon Champions EX will have special log-in bonuses and events. Pokémon Go players can participate in raid battles featuring Mewtwo, Zapdos, Articuno, and Moltres. Special raid battles are also available in Pokémon Sword and Shield, where players can catch Gigantamax Pikachu.

Netflix’s adorable new Pokémon show will warm your heart

No matter how old and cynical I get, there’s one constant in my life: I’m always delighted by Pokémon. Even in the franchise’s weakest moments, it rarely fails to make me smile. I’ve spent more time than I can count checking in with Pokémon Sleep this year, and even the middling Detective Pikachu Returns got some “Awws” from me. It’s the one piece of media that never ceases to take the tired adult in me and briefly turn him into a kid again.

Pokémon Concierge, a new four-part animated series available now on Netflix, understands that feeling more than any Pokémon game I’ve played in years. The gentle show takes place at a resort that exclusively caters to Pokémon in need of a break. Rather than focusing on flashy battles or lore-heavy stories about monsters that control space and time, the slice-of-life series simply understands the inherent joy of momentarily tuning out the real world with some adorable critters. It’s a sweet slice of stress-free escapism – one that the wider video game series could stand to take a few notes from.
The White Lotad
Pokémon Concierge is the latest project from Dwarf Studio, the animation studio behind Netflix’s positively precious Rilakkuma and Kaoru. Like that show, it features a stop-motion animation style that lends its good-natured world a level of hand-crafted, humanistic charm. Monsters like Hopip and Diglett appear as bright puppets lined with soft felt. They are stuffed animals come to life, and I couldn’t help wishing that I could squeeze them.

All new and returning Pokémon in Scarlet and Violet: The Indigo Disk

This is the poster child for this DLC, and is going to play a major part of the game's story. Because of its importance, we don't know almost any details about it, including what type it is, except that it does have a Terastal Form.
