Sony has announced the latest batch of free games to reward its PlayStation Plus subscribers for March, covering a range of genres and styles that should include something for everyone.
PlayStation 4
Oddworld: Abe’s Oddysee – New ‘n’ Tasty!
This classic platformer, originally released for the first PlayStation console, has been rebooted with a complete overhaul of graphics, sound, and controls. A whole new generation of gamers can now experience the quirky saga of Abe the Mudokon and his attempt to rescue his fellow slaves from being slaughtered for meat.
Valiant Hearts: The Great War
This heart-rending puzzle adventure is set during World War I and was inspired by letters and relics from the developers’ family members. Ubisoft created the game using the UbiArt Framework, which was also used to create Rayman Origins, Rayman Legends, and Child of Light.
PlayStation 3
Papo & Yo
This 2012 puzzle adventure follows a young Brazilian boy, Quico, and his best friend, a giant monster. The surreal adventure belies an emotionally dense, metaphorical reflection on the creator’s childhood with an abusive, alcoholic father.
Sherlock Holmes: Crimes and Punishments
Step into the shoes of literature’s most famous detective, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s Sherlock Holmes. Use your powers of deduction to find clues and piece together cases in 19th century London, find the perpetrators, and pass judgement.
PlayStation Vita
OlliOlli2: Welcome to Olliwood (also PS4)
Tony Hawk Pro Skater meets Canabalt in this side-scrolling skateboarding game from developer Roll7. Perform tricks and uncover secrets throughout a variety of colorful levels, unlocking new modes and more.
CounterSpy (also PS3/PS4)
This 2.5-dimension platformer is set during an alternate history Cold War, blending stealth, close-quarters combat, and gunplay into a stylish–if brief–adventure.
