Amazon is having a rare sale on PS5 consoles for Prime Big Deal Days

Amazon’s Prime Big Deal Days is officially here (happening for just two days on October 8 and 9), and it’s bringing some of the best deals on video games, consoles, and accessories you’ll find before Black Friday.

For the first time in Prime Day history, the Sony PlayStation 5 is included in the sale. Fortunately, availability has improved since the release of the PlayStation 5 Slim last Fall, but it’s still rare to find Sony’s top-selling console at a discount.

For Amazon’s two-day sale, the PlayStation 5 Slim is 10% off, with a deal price of $449.99 (originally $499.99), while the PlayStation 5 Slim Digital Edition is marked down to $399.99 from its original price of $449.

Why you should buy the PlayStation 5 Slim

The PS5 Digital Edition NBA 2K25 Bundle is a slam dunk for gamers looking to score the best deal possible. With the game alone retailing for nearly $70, this bundle offers exceptional value and savings of $110. It’s a no-brainer if you or a loved one are obsessed with sports games.

As Senior Gaming Editor Giovanni Colantonio noted in his PS5 review, “Sony has delivered a terrific next-generation console.” The recent release of the slimmer PS5 model further strengthens Sony’s position in the gaming market, offering a more compact design and increased storage capacity.

As a current PlayStation 5 owner, I’ve got to tip my hat to Sony for its vast game library. Whether you’re a fan of RPGs, shooters, or adventures, there’s something for everyone. And with PlayStation-exclusive titles like God of War Ragnarök, Horizon Forbidden West, and my current favorite, Astro Bot, you won’t feel left out playing the coolest, can’t-miss games.

While a 10% discount might not seem like much, it’s worth noting that this is a rare deal we haven’t seen since the Spring. Plus, the last time a PS5 bundle was on sale, it came with Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, which was released last Fall. NBA 2K25 is one of the best PS5 games and is much newer and perfect for some multiplayer action. Even though the PS5 is more readily available now, we anticipate strong demand for this bundle. So, if you’re interested, it’s best to act quickly before it’s gone!

One last thing: If you’re torn about whether you should opt for the variant with or without a disc drive, a disc-less console offers the convenience of switching games instantly and eliminates the need for physical storage. However, it also introduces risks associated with digital ownership, such as potential account bans and limited access to older or delisted games. Happy Prime Day, gamers!
