Sleeping Dogs Definitive Edition coming to Xbox One and PlayStation 4 in October

The spoilsports at Amazon have leaked the news that Sleeping Dogs will be coming to the newest generation of consoles in October 2014, before publisher Square Enix has made any announcements. The Sleeping Dogs Definitive Edition for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One appears to include all previously released DLC and a 28-page book of concept art. According to the Amazon listing, the game will arrive on October 14, 2014 for $60.

Sleeping Dogs is an open world crime game in the vein of Grand Theft Auto that was released in 2012, but with an emphasis on hand-to-hand combat using a system that is somewhat reminiscent of Rocksteady’s Batman: Arkham series. You play as Wei Shen, a former San Francisco police officer who has returned to his native Hong Kong to infiltrate the Sun Yee On triads. The game’s story missions are divided between jobs for the triads and for the police, pulling your loyalty back and forth between the two factions.

Star Wars Jedi: Survivor finally coming to PS4 and Xbox One in September

EA and Respawn Entertainment have revealed that PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions of Star Wars Jedi: Survivor will come out on September 17. That means players who only own last-gen consoles will be able to try out this excellent action-adventure game that was previously exclusive to PC and current-gen consoles.

Star Wars Jedi: Survivor is a sequel to 2019's Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order and continues the story of Cal Kestis, who stumbles upon a new threat connected to the universe's High Republic era. I gave the game a four-star review when it launched in April 2023, writing that "Star Wars Jedi: Survivor still tells a thematically rich, character-driven Jedi tale in one of the most densely packed 3D Metroidvania games I’ve ever played. It’s now the definitive single-player Star Wars experience."

Personalized spatial audio comes to the PlayStation 5

The latest beta update for Sony's PlayStation 5 console brings the ability to create personalized spatial audio profiles, which should produce more immersive and realistic sound.

The beta software was released on July 25 and described in a PlayStation blog post. Officially, Sony calls the new feature "personalized 3D audio profiles for headphones and earbuds."

Dragon Age: The Veilguard from BioWare and EA is one of the biggest games set to launch this fall. It will mark the first new game in the fantasy RPG series in a decade and hopefully be a single-player return to form for BioWare after the ill-regarded Anthem.
