Sony PSP Portable Review Roundup

So far all of the reviews we have seen have a positive outlook on Sony’s new portable gaming system, the PSP. Keep in mind that most of the press reviewing the new PSP consists of non-gaming specific publications (with the exception of Gamespot which only has a first look of the PSP). The real verdict will come when the gaming enthusiasts’ sites start reviewing the PSP. So we do not recommend going out and buying the system based solely on what the Washington Post and Forbes say for example. Here is what we have so far:

We will post a nother review round-up once the PSP is officially released and the gaming sites get a chance to review it.

Steam reviews now show when the writer played primarily on Steam Deck
The Heroic Games Launcher for Steam Deck.

Steam is continuing to refresh its customer review system with a small but potentially impactful new feature. Reviews will now note if the user had primarily played the game on the Steam Deck.

Valve announced the update on X (formerly Twitter) Thursday, showcasing a new Steam Deck icon that appears in the top right of a Steam review, next to the star icon that mentions a player played the game on Steam and, therefore, their thoughts will be counted in the overall score. Seems like an appropriate place to put it.

A Steam library filled with custom artwork.

Steam is introducing a new system to improve the "helpfulness" of user reviews on its platforms, and it may spell bad news for your sass and one-word jokes.

Valve posted a platform update Wednesday, and along with the usual patches and bug fixes, it introduced the beta for a user review system, which is now on by default during its testing period. It seeks to rank reviews by quality, moving comments that help people with making a buying decision up and pushing jokey ones down.

The best PSP games of all time
A PlayStation Portable (PSP) on a table.

Sony's first crack at a handheld system needed to compete with the best DS games if it was going to stand a chance. Unlike Nintendo's dual-screen system, the PlayStation Portable played it straight by simply offering as close to a console-level experience as you could get on the go and prioritizing power over gimmicks. In that way, it was able to release games that looked almost as good as the best PS2 games.

The PSP library was incredibly strong. Just about every PlayStation franchise at the time had some form of representation here, plus a suite of third-party games. Even though it was limited to just one analog stick, developers were able to design around the controls to make some of the best games of all time.
