Back in April, we got our first look at Spider-Man: Edge of Time, the pseudo-sequel to the popular Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions. The Edge of Time trailer offered a look at how the game’s narrative will be split between two versions of the webslinging Marvel superhero, The Amazing Spider-Man and Spider-Man 2099.
Now, in a new behind-the-scenes video, we get a look at the character who’s always right by Spidey’s side (when she’s not kidnapped by a supervillain), Mary Jane Watson.
Actress Laura Vandervoort provides the voice of Mary Jane in the new game, and if she looks a little familiar, that’s probably because she’s been a regular around the genre television scene in recent years. Along with playing Superman’s Kryptonian cousin, Kara, in the recently concluded Smallville series, she also plays Lisa, the daughter of creepy alien leader Anna in the V series.
Yes, that’s right — she’s officially made the cross-company leap from DC to Marvel. (Try not to be too hard on her, okay? We’ve met her and she’s super nice.)
From what we can tell, Mary Jane also appears to be filling a similar role in the video game universe as she has so often in the comics — that of the damsel in distress. However, this time around she appears to be a little shaken up by the idea of being rescued by a Spider-Man who isn’t Peter Parker under the mask.
Is it cheating if he’s from a different dimension?
Spider-Man: Edge of Time is scheduled for release later this year on PC, Nintendo DS and 3DS, Playstation 3, Xbox 360, and Wii.
