Last night at RTX 2014 in Austin, fans got a crack at Halo 2: Anniversary Edition, the remaster of Bungie’s 10-year-old game to be included in Halo: The Master Chief Collection this fall. Among other tidbits gleaned from the presentation is the inclusion of a gun-mounted Mongoose vehicle, lovingly referred to as the “Gungoose.” (via Halo Waypoint)

The nimble, but vulnerable M274 Mongoose first appeared in Halo 3 as a fast transport option ideal for objective-based game modes like capture the flag, but too frail and prone to high-speed flips to make it particularly useful in combat unless you also had someone with a serious heavy weapon riding shotgun. The new M274-M remedies that by bolting a powerful anti-infantry gun onto the hood, opening up new possibilities for high-speed assaults. The developers have added a new mode, Gungoose Capture the Flag, to highlight their new toy.

343 Industries also used the event to premiere Coagulation, one of six maps that have been completely re-built for the Xbox One release of The Master Chief Collection. Coagulation was a popular Halo 2 multiplayer map that was itself a remake of the sniper-friendly Blood Gulch map from Halo: Combat Evolved.

Halo: The Master Chief Collection comes to Xbox One on November 11, bundling remastered versions of Halo 1-4 for $60. There’s been no mention of Halo 2: Anniversary Edition being sold separately, so you’ll need the full collection if you want the remastered game.

Halo Infinite: All skull locations and effects

Master Chief just can't catch a break. After over 20 years, he's back on a new Halo ring with a new mission, and a new threat to face. We were already treated to the multiplayer component of Halo Infinite before the campaign launch, but for many people, it's the story of Chief, Cortana, and the universe in general that makes the Halo franchise so enduring. It's a shame that co-op isn't available yet and we can't explore this new ring's open world with a friend, but for now, this is a pleasant return to form for the titanic FPS franchise.

Details on the campaign were incredibly scarce all the way up until the game's launch, but now that it's out in the wild, we are glad to see the return of collectible skulls. Skulls have been both a collectible and optional difficulty modifier ever since they were found in Halo 2, and have been in every game in the series since. They have become a badge of honor to not only find, but use in the game's ultimate challenge called LASO (legendary all skulls on). If Halo Infinite is already too easy for you, or you just want an excuse to explore the lush Halo landscape, here's all the skull locations and their effects.
