“Sons of Winter” kicks off the second half of Telltale’s Westerosi saga, and things aren’t looking much better for any of our heroes from the beleaguered House Forrester. In King’s Landing, Mira is trying her best to keep her head down and avoid any unwanted attention in the wake of the Purple Wedding. Back at home in Ironrath, the newly-minted Lord Rodrick is struggling to keep the peace while trying to figure out how he can get out from under the boot of the Whitehills, a task complicated by the fact that they have his younger brother Ryon as a hostage.

Up at Castle Black, Gared has to forsake his Night’s Watch vows and strike off beyond The Wall to find the mysterious North Grove, facing Wildlings, giants, white walkers, and any number of other potential dangers lurking past the fringe of civilization. Finally, across the Narrow Sea, Asher is sent on a special mission by Daenerys Targaryen, Mother of Dragons, whom he met at the end of the previous episode. To quote Telltale’s summary, “will the friendship he holds dear break under the strain of a mission that raises memories best forgotten?”

Surely something has to start going right for the Forresters, no? Or in true, George R. R. Martin fashion are we destined to have everyone we care about raped and murdered in front of our eyes? “Sons of Winter” will release for all platforms at some point in the next few weeks. We will post the release date and trailer as soon as Telltale has shared them.

Three colorful PS5s float together in a line.

PlayStation will kick off the summer of digital video game reveal streams this week with a State of Play broadcast. The stream will take place at 3 p.m. PT on Thursday, May 30.

State of Play is one of Sony's primary livestream presentation formats. It tends to be slightly shorter than the company's flagship stream, the PlayStation Showcase. This State of Play is a significant one, though, as Sony's slate of first-party games for 2024 is entirely unknown at this stage. This stream should shed some light on what's coming later this year.

Quite a few awesome titles are making their way to the service, but by far, the most notable addition is Diablo IV, the first Activision Blizzard game being made available on Xbox Game Pass.

Diablo IV was released in June 2023, just a few months before Microsoft completed its acquisition of Activision Blizzard. It's the latest entry in a long-running isometric RPG series, and it retains the same engaging dungeon design, deep progression systems, and captivating loot loop that makes games in this franchise special. People have been wondering when Activision Blizzard games would arrive on Xbox Game Pass in the months since the acquisition process was completed, and Diablo IV was finally confirmed to be coming to the service on March 28 last month.
