The Lord of the Rings: War in the North highlights a different fellowship in this new trailer

What would Comic-Con be without a presence from the Lord of the Rings. Even before the movies were released and everybody suddenly seemed to know who Sauron was, seeing an orc wandering down the convention center or bumping into an Aragorn while buying a corn dog was a relatively common site. Following the films, there a few slightly lean years for the property, but this convention should fix that with plenty of news about The Hobbit, and the upcoming release of the newest Lord of the Rings game, War in the North.

The trailers for this game are flying fast and furious. This most recent clip comes just two weeks after the last, and you can expect more. In the clip below titled “Fellowship,” the three main characters, a dwarf, an elf and a human ranger take on Sauron’s northern army, commanded by the dark sorcerer, Agandaur.

The Lord of the Rings: War in the North is tentatively scheduled for a 2011 release on PC, PS3 and Xbox 360.

Get ready to jump back into the vibrant world of Middle-earth with Lord of the Rings: Heroes of Middle-earth, the newest game inspired by the fantastic literary work. We've already had dozens of games based on all the books in this series, including The Hobbit, as well as experiences that explore other stories not yet told in those original texts, with the most notable being Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor and its sequel, Shadow of War. However, the mobile space has not had a big hit with this IP as of yet.

Lord of the Rings: Heroes of Middle-earth looks to change that. This ambitious new free-to-play game wants to bring the high production value, scale, characters, story, and fun gameplay of other titles into the palm of our hands. Like many things in Middle-earth, a lot of information about this upcoming game is still shrouded in darkness. However, after plumbing the books and scrolls of Minas Tirith and consulting our council, we offer you everything we know about Lord of the Rings: Heroes of Middle-earth.

The Lord of the Rings: Gollum: release date, trailers, gameplay, and more

The Lord of the Rings: Gollum is set to take us to an unexplored period of J. R. R. Tolkien's Middle-earth universe and give the legendary Lord of the Rings story a brand new story and lore. While Bilbo and Frodo Baggins are certainly heroes in the saga for finding, carrying, and ultimately destroying the One Ring and the Dark Lord Sauron, there's another hobbit who had a very important role to play — Sméagol (later known as Gollum).

While Gollum's tale has been touched on in the Lord of the Rings novels, Peter Jackson's iconic film trilogy, and other LOTR media, this game will be the first story focused solely on "the third hobbit." Gollum follows the notorious trickster as he is hunted down by Middle-earth's heroes and villains while wrestling with split personalities and obsession with the One Ring.

First Star Wars Jedi: Survivor trailer features dual-lightsaber combat, open-world teases

Star Wars Jedi: Survivor is launching on March 17, 2023, for Xbox Series X, PlayStation 5, and PC. The action-adventure game received an impressive trailer during The Game Awards that showed off several new features and teased some potential open-world aspects.
Survivor takes place five years after 2019’s Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, continuing the adventures of Cal Kestis and his droid pal BD-1. Cal is no longer a young Padawan and is now a full-blown Jedi. The much larger scope of the game seems to reflect that change.

Combat is notably evolved in the trailer, as Cal can now freely use a dual-lightsaber stance in battle. Later, we see him enter “cross guard” stance as he takes down droids with heavy, two-handed slashes. EA tells Digital Trends that the goal of the sequel is to give players more agency when it comes to their playstyle.
Traversal plays a large role in the clip too. In addition to swinging around via grappling points, Cal is seen mounted on animals. He’s shown riding the back of a four-legged creature and using a winged one like The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild’s glider. The clip seems to imply that the game’s planets might be more open-ended than Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order’s, as one shot shows Cal peering out over a gigantic vista. EA notes that the sequel is still largely a Metroidvania-inspired title where Cal gets new abilities over time.
Cal has a new human companion this time named Bode Akuna. In one clip, we see Bode flipping over Cal’s back to attack an enemy with a combo move.
Star Wars Jedi: Survivor was built with current-generation consoles in mind, with ray tracing being a major focus. It appears to be a graphically impressive showcase that features more dynamic lighting and flashy lightsaber effects. The adventure won’t launch on PS4 or Xbox One, but it’ll be available for PS5, Xbox Series X, and PC on March 17, 2023.
