Poland’s largest postal network, Poczta Polska, is set to release a stamp featuring the famous monster slayer Geralt of Rivia. It will be a limited run that begins circulation on Friday, so if you are a stamp collector or a real fan of The Witcher series, you will need to be quick to grab one.

Geralt hails from The Witcher series of books and games, though in this instance his likeness will be drawn from a CD Projekt Red game, which released its most recent game in the series, The Witcher III: Wild Hunt, in 2015. The stamps’ run will be limited to 180,000 copies.

While it might seem surprising to see a stamp feature such a character, The Witcher originates from a series of novels and short stories by Polish author Andrzej Sapkowski, so the character does have a little more cultural significance there.

To go along with the Geralt stamp, Poczta Polska is also releasing a limited edition envelope. It features a fiery interpretation of Geralt’s Witcher medallion, which warns him of danger and signifies his status as a Witcher for hire. While there are many medallions in The Witcher’s universe, the wolf’s head is one that each Witcher acquires after passing the Trial of the Grasses, where three young acolytes consume a concoction of herbs and only one survives.

This is an envelope for die-hard fans and it is quite a companion for the stamp, though it is so detailed we would feel bad sending it knowing there is a chance for it to become battered after sending it through the mail. It has certainly been a long time since we posted anything about stationary as cool as an envelope and stamp combination as this one.

CD Projekt Red isn’t slowing down, for better or worse
Ciri looking over her shoulder in The Witcher 3: The Wild Hunt

The past year-and-a-half havs not been kind to Polish developer CD Projekt Red. The studio -- part of CD Projekt Group, a company that also owns the online games marketplace GOG -- faced enormous criticism with the release of Cyberpunk 2077 and has since been busy fixing the game. In the time since, the studio has faced setback after setback, with its announcements leaning more toward a project being delayed rather than good news for fans.

Outwardly though, the company is appearing to shake off the dust of Cyberpunk 2077. While its short-term ambitions are pointed exclusively at past releases, the studio has future plans. It's looking forward -- and in a big way. A recent earnings report from the company revealed that it's working on numerous unannounced projects, one of which is being co-developed by another studio, The Molasses Flood, and will be based on one of CD Projekt Red's franchises.
Flooding the pipeline
CD Projekt Red's current content plans seek to reinforce what the studio already has out there. Cyberpunk 2077 recently received a current-gen update and will get its first major story expansion next year. The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is also set to get its own current-gen update, though its release date has been postponed indefinitely following CD Projekt Red's decision to bring development in-house.
