You can now add animations and voiceover to your PlayStation clips. Here’s how

Sony has added Bits to the Share Factory Studio, the free photo and video editing app for PS5, in a fresh update. The cool new feature went live on Wednesday, allowing gamers to give their PlayStation gameplay clips and screenshots using a wide variety of effects and filters straight from the Bits Editor.

You can add voiceovers with either your regular voice or add filters to change your voice in the voice recording and add animated stickers with sound and text personalization options. You can also add classic sitcom endings to your Bit to let the world know your name, curate a well wishes card with the Get Well Soon filter, and create freeform drawings with the doodle feature on the DualSense controller.

In the example Sony provided in the PlayStation Blog, one of the animated stickers includes confetti falling down all over the screen in Horizon Forbidden West. The colorful mini tissues are programmed to fall just as Aloy hits a bullseye on the robotic dinosaur.

Bits also gives you the ability to create videos that range between three-second GIFs or one-minute customized Bits. Once you’re done creating your customized clip and save it to your PS5’s storage, you can upload it to Twitter or YouTube either from your console or from the PlayStation app, where your Bits can be seen in the Game Captures section.

The Bits Live Service will update Share Factory Studio regularly with new Bits styles that are based on the day of the week, holidays, special events, seasons, and even trending content. Trending content might mean memes making the rounds on Twitter and TikTok.

Not many people use Share Factory Studio unless they’re extremely creative and can handle editing videos and photos with a game controller. The fact that Bits brings more personalization options to the editing program will attract more PlayStation fans to make their clips as lively as they would on TikTok and Instagram. It seems Sony is following the footsteps of social media platforms by making Share Factory Studio, and perhaps PlayStation as a whole, look more like TikTok.

Ever since the PlayStation 5 Pro was first revealed, I've seen a common refrain from some skeptics: "I don't see a difference!"

I was in the same boat when Mark Cerny introduced the console in a YouTube video back in September. A compressed YouTube stream just isn't the best way to communicate a console that both increases resolution and frame rate. I only started to see just how different the PS5 Pro looks compared to the base model once I could see them side by side in my own home. It took me some time -- and a lot of eye straining -- to spot some of the finer details outside of its more obvious AI-upscaling benefits, but I was able to see them eventually. The PS5 Pro does improve image quality, but is the bump enough to justify a $700 purchase?

The PlayStation launched without many features that we loved from the PS4 . Over the years, a few have come back, but what about themes? These could be earned, downloaded, or purchased, and some even came included with certain games that gave your home screen a new look and background soundtrack related to different games or concepts. This made customizing your home screen that much more fun and personal. However, is this feature on the PS5? Here's whether or not you can put custom themes on your new console or change the background.
Does the PS5 have themes?

No, the PS5 does not have any themes. Instead, whenever you highlight a game or app on your home screen, the background will change to art related to that game, as well as show more information on it. While far from ideal, it is the closest we are likely to get to the themes we had on our PS4.
Can you change the background on a PS5?
Again, due to the PS5 dynamically changing the background depending on what you're currently looking at, there's no way to alter your background at this time. Since the background is constantly changing, even if you had a custom image, it would always be changing as you cycled through games. There are a few other ways you can customize your PS5, however, unless Sony gives us the option with an update, there's no way to set a theme on your PS5.

Ever since its disastrous launch, there’s a lot of discussion about how Concord failed for PlayStation. It's a fair conversation, but it's not the only one that needs to be had in order to understand how we got here. We can't ignore how PlayStation failed Concord and its developers.

Tuesday afternoon, Hermen Hulst announced that Concord, which was shut down two weeks after its launch earlier this summer, would not be coming back. On top of that, he explained that Sony was shutting down Concord developer Firewalk Studios and mobile game developer Neon Koi. He cites the move as “part of our ongoing efforts to strengthen SIE’s Studio Business.”
