It’s 2014. Your cell phone has no doubt replaced a landline as your link to the outside world, but if you’re live in a home where the walls wreak havoc on your cell signal, you probably miss the static-free conversations of the old days. VTech isn’t trying to sell you on a landline, but its DS6291 cordless phone system does offer a compromise: Plant your cell phone and the base station wherever cell reception is best, then use the cordless handset to roam around the house with the best reception possible. It will relay calls from your cell to the handset via Bluetooth when they come in, and notify you when you have text messages, calendar reminders and other alerts. An onboard USB power jack ensures your phone is charged and up and ready to go when you walk out the door.
