Just in time for the holidays, Altec Lansing launches new Bluetooth audio gear

If your holiday gift buying includes several people who love music, Altec Lansing is hoping to catch your eye with a volley of new audio products it unleashed today. With the most expensive product priced at $150 and the cheapest at $30, a fairly wide range of use cases and price points is covered.

The first two products are the latest in Altec Lansing’s “everything-proof” line of Bluetooth speakers, the Life Jacket 3 and Mini Life Jacket 3. Both are IP67-certified waterproof, shockproof, and dustproof. They also happen to float. Both models claim a range of up to 50 feet, around 20 feet further than the standard range found in most Bluetooth speakers.

Both speakers also feature full-sized USB ports for charging mobile devices, though battery life varies between the two, with the Life Jacket 3 claiming 30 hours of playback time and the Mini Life Jacket 3 claiming 16. The Life Jacket 3 is available in cool grey and cobalt blue color schemes, while the Mini is available in many more, including aqua blue, green, deep red, and black.

For those who would rather listen privately, the Evolution 2 Bluetooth headphones are the first wireless model in Altec Lansing’s Evolution line. They feature 40mm neodymium drivers, claim up to six hours of playback time, and offer the standard range of roughly 33 feet. The headphones are available in matte black and come with a carrying pouch and detachable tangle-free cable.

Finally, the company also launched the generically and confusingly named Waterproof In-Ear Earbuds. Interchangeable ear tips are included for finding a perfect fit, and the range is 33 feet as with the Evolution 2 Bluetooth headphones, with a claimed battery life of up to 10 hours. The in-ears are available in black, blue, and white color schemes.

The Life Jacket 3 is priced at $150, while the Mini Life Jacket 3 retails for $100. Both can be found at Best Buy and Target. The Evolution 2 Bluetooth headphones sell for $50 and are available from Staples. Finally, the Waterproof In-Ear Earbuds sell for $30 and can be found at Walmart, Office Depot, and Dick’s Sporting Goods.
