Aperion Audio Pounds Out 12 New Speakers

Not the type of company to dribble out new releases one by one, Aperion Audio dropped a bombshell of new goodies on Tuesday, totaling nine new surround speakers and three new subwoofers. The company’s latest releases include completely reworked bookshelf speakers, towers, bipoles, and center channels under the Intimus label, along with the brand new Bravus line of subwoofers.

The next-gen Intimus speakers have been tweaked from the inside out, with new silk dome tweeters, woven fiberglass cones, and a even a different design aesthetic that emphasizes curved edges for a contemporary look. The Bravus subs, available in 8-, 10- and 12-inch models, use dual aluminum drivers and digital BASH amplifiers, with the intent to squeeze as much bass out of a small package as possible.

Cambridge Audio Evo One is a 14-driver wireless music speaker that doubles as a soundbar
Cambridge Audio Evo One.

Cambridge Audio's new Evo One wireless streaming music speaker is a 14-driver beast that has more in common with most high-end soundbars. It's available starting August 9 for $1,500.

The Evo One is eye-catching in the best possible way, with a wood veneer top and a 6.8-inch color screen, which makes it a larger sibling to the Evo 150 streaming integrated amplifier. It may be challenging to find the right spot for it, however. At 26.6 inches wide and 11.4 inches deep, it's going to require a fair amount of space. And at 32 pounds, with its own built-in plinth-style stand, you won't be wall-mounting it. It comes with its own dedicated remote.

Audio-Technica shores up its entry-level dominance with a new affordable turntable
Audio-Technica AT-LP70X turntable.

Audio-Technica is one of the first brands that many newcomers to the world of vinyl turn to when it comes to getting a first turntable. Today the company has added a new budget-friendly, entry-level option to its lineup: the $200 AT-LP70X that builds on the popularity of its stalwart LP60X but adds a few key upgrades.

The AT-LP70X, and its Bluetooth-enabled sibling the $250 LP70XBT, are fully automatic, belt-driven turntables that are pretty much ready to play right out of the box. They feature pre-mounted, factory-configured tonearms and cartridges, meaning that all you have to do is connect the provided RCA cables to your chosen speakers or audio output, put on a record, press the auto-start button, and off you go. The AT-LPX70 and LP70XBT are switchable between 7- and 12-inch records with the auto-play feature, and both play at 33 1.3 and 44RPM speeds.
