Dell Rolls Out 37-inch LCD TV

Computer-maker Dell today introduced a new W3706C 37-inch LCD television display aimed at home theater aficionados, and announced the company is now taking orders for its W5001C 50-inch plasma HDTV display it announced in September.

The 37-inch W3706C display is available now to U.S. customers and starts at $2,299, and is aimed both at users who enjoy high-definition video like DVD movies and broadcast sports as well as gamers and casual movie viewers who have medium- to large-sized rooms. The W3706C features widescreen high-def WXGA resolution (1,366 by 768), dual integrated analog and combo digital/analog tuners to receive both over-the-aid analog and digital broadcasts, and supports for both Picture-in-Picture, Picture-on-Picture, and Picture-by-Picture modes so users can monitor one video source while watching another. the unit is just 4.41 inches deep, offers an 800:1 contrast ratio, 500 cd/m2 brightness, and support for 480i, 480p, 720p, and 1080i resolutions with video driven by Pixelworks ICs and software.

In addition, the W3706C offers a host of connectivity options, including dual HDMI ports, dual composite inputs, dual S-Video inputs, dual component inputs, TV in/coaxial (NTSC/ATSC), and VGA/PC audio. Plus, composite, S-Video and audio connectors are accessible on the side of the unit for easy connection of camcorders, digital cameras, digital video recorders, or gaming systems. The display also ships with two 15-watt speakers offering SRS TruSurround virtual surround sound which can be mounted on the TV, wall, or stands.
