If you’ve ever wondered why you can’t just load your video or images on a USB hard drive, plug it into your TV via USB, and put your content on the big screen…well, Iomega has the next best thing with its Screenplay TV Link. Screenplay TV Link takes the same audio and video technology in its Screenplay HD Multimedia Drive, but instead of packing its own internal 500 GB drive, the Screenplay TV Link lets users hook up their own USB storage devices, including hard drives and flash drives.
“The ScreenPlay TV Link is an ultra-portable device that gives everyone a seamless way to share family photos, play music, and enjoy videos,” said Iomega product manager Loren Bryner, in a statement. “The ScreenPlay TV Link turns any TV or home theater into party central for computer-based media content.”
The ScreenPlay TV LInk comes with a remove control for navigating loaded media, and offers HDMI, composite, component, and S/PDIF outputs for connecting to HDTV and home theater systems. The unit supports MP3, AC3, WMA, WAV, and Ogg audio, JOPEG images, MPEG 1/2/4 video, and can upscale content to 720p/1080i resolution. The unit is about the size of a deck of cards and weighs less than four ounces—which means it’s highly portable but likely to get pulled around just by the weight of attached cables.
The Screenplay TV Link is available now for a suggested price of $99.95.
