How to watch the men’s and women’s Olympic basketball finals

The 2020 Tokyo Games’ basketball tournaments are filled with highly emotional wins and major upsets alike. Still, as we approach the basketball finals, the competing teams are gearing up to overcome the odds. Once touted to be invincible, the USA men’s team had to work a little harder to qualify for the spot in the quarterfinals against the Czech Republic and just bested Spain 95-81 in quarterfinal action. As they head into their semifinal match with Australia on Thursday, August 5, they seem to be gaining momentum as they’ve made it to the Final Four, en route (hopefully) to the gold.

Over on the women’s side, WNBA basketball legends like Sue Bird and Diana Taurasi are looking to lead Team USA, but they have some tough competition in their upcoming quarterfinal game against Australia on Wednesday, August 4. In addition, Nigeria has faced some major drawbacks as WNBA stars Nneka and Chiney Ogwumike could not play with Nigeria due to their stint in the USA, even though they have dual citizenship with both countries. The women have put on a great show at these games, and the Final Four should prove to be some great basketball.

Your next TV won’t be micro-LED. Here’s why
Vibrant flora shown on a Samsung 76-inch MicroLED TV.

There is only one reaction anyone has ever had to witnessing a big, modern micro-LED display in person. It goes something along the lines of "whoa!" They are, quite simply, stunning to behold.

It’s no surprise, then, that when popular TV brands started teasing us with micro-LED TV prototypes seven years ago, folks started dreaming about the day they might be able to have one in their own home.

Dolby Atmos FlexConnect gets its first competitor at CES 2025
Diagram showing Fraunhofer IIS UpHear Flexible Rendering.

Dolby Labs' Dolby Atmos FlexConnect platform is a clever concept. It's software that's designed to be built into a TV, where it performs some room calibration magic, ultimately letting you place your speakers anywhere you want, while still getting an Atmos experience. And now it has its first competitor: Fraunhofer UpHear Flexible Rendering.

Fraunhofer Institute for Integrated Circuits (better known as Fraunhofer IIS, or just Fraunhofer) -- the organization that created the ubiquitous MP3 music format -- will be demoing UpHear Flexible Rendering at CES 2025, exactly one year after the first demos of Dolby Atmos FlexConnect.
