JVC has upped the ante for home theater projectors with its new DLA-RS1 projector, which not only supports high-definition video up to 1080p resolution, but offers a native contrast ratio of 15:000:1 without using a dynamic iris or other contrast-enhancing tools.
"As the flagship of our References Series product line, the DLA-RS1 is packed with advanced technologies at an affordable price, further enhancing JVC’s projector line-up," said Carl Mandelbaum, JVC Professional Products’ national marketing manager for display products in a statement. "Our research and development team continue to deliver the highest quality projectors for the home theater market."
The DLA-RS1 is built around JVC’s own Direct Drive Image Light Amplifier (D-ILA) technology which uses a three-panel design so the projector doesn’t have to have a rainbow-creating spinning color wheel. JVC’s new 0.7-inch high-definition D-ILA significantly reduces the amount of stray light, and also offers native 1,920 by 1,080 resolution, so the projector can handle 1080p content without scaling. The unit sports dual HDMI inputs; composite, component, and S-Video input; and an RS-232 port to support popular home theater automation systems.
The DLA-RS1’s lensis adjustable 80 percent vertical and 34 percent horizontal, with a 2× manual zoom which let the project handle screen sizes from 60 to 200 inches wide.
Sound interesting? There’s a reason the DLA-RS1 is in JVC’s professional line: the system will carry a suggested price of $6,295 when it becomes available in early 2007. Start saving your pennies now!
