At the 2006 Electronic House Expo in Long Beach, California, Klegg Electronics announced it plans to produce a 40-inch LCD television…which is not all that newsworthy, except that this TV will run MIcrosoft Windows Vista and enable users (or, potentially botnets!) to control media functions via the Internet.
Th 40-inch Windows Media Center television, will feature two-way IP-based control, and feature new custom software from Automatic Controls to integrate with other home electronics devices, potentially making the system a hot product for high-end custom installers and systems integrators: users will be able to integrate their Media Center TV with home automation systems from AMX, Crestron, HAI, and other makers via downloadable modules. Installers will also be able to customize the TV’s touch-panel interface with macros and scenes which coordinate with other home devices.
As a high-def television, the unit won’t be a slouch, offering 1080i resolution (1,366 by 768 pixels), a good selection of video inputs (HDMI, DVI, component (× 2), composite (× 3), and S-video), 1,000:1 contrast, dual tuner support, and 500 cd/m2 of brightness.
No word on yet when the Vista-enabled television will be available – or how much it might cost.
