Earlier this year, Sharp took the wraps off a 65-inch LCD display for commercial customers; nowSharp Electronics is now shipping its immense 65-inch Aquos LC-65D90U LCD television, sure to make quite an impression on all your friends and guests. (Or, at least, we’re sure they’ll notice the sleek titanium stand). The LC-65D90U offers a high-brightness display (450 cd/m2 with a 1200:1 contrast ratio, a fast 6 ms response time, 1920 by 1080 resolution, a 170° viewing angle, a fully integrated HDTV tuner. The unit is also CableCARD compatible, so you can pop your cable provider’s tuner in there without needing a separate set-top box.
The LC-65D90U also features an integrated TV Guide on screen programming guide and a detachable speakers with a 10-watt audio system. On the back: HDMI and DVI inputs, three composite inputs, two component inputs, one S-video input, three stereo audio inputs, S-video out, and RCA and 3.5 minijack stereo outputs. Better check your table or entertainment center though: with stand and speaker, the LC-65D90U weighs in at 174.2 pounds.
Sharp isn’t very forthcoming about pricing for the LC-65D90U, and it’s distinctly a high-end unit for folks with plenty of time and money to invest in their home theater systems. But a quick survey of likely retails suggests the LC-65D90U can be had for about $16,000, not including delivery and installation.
