Microsoft Lights Up Xbox Video Marketplace

It’s been one year since Microsoft launched its Xbox 360 video game console, and, as promised, today Microsoft launched its Xbox Live Video Marketplace for U.S. customers, offering Xbox 360 owners pay-to-download movies and television shows—some in HD format—featuring content from CBS, MTV, Paramount, TBS, Warner Bros. Home Entertainment, and other providers.

The entire system runs off Microsoft Points, the same currency used to purchase games and other items from the Xbox Live Marketplace. In the U.S., 80 Microsoft Points cost $1, and they’re available in $5 increments. Currently, video selections are only available to U.S. customers.

Back at CES 2022, Samsung announced that it would break into video games with its Samsung Gaming Hub. The feature, which is set to launch with Samsung TVs this summer, includes cloud services like Google Stadia and GeForce Now. In partnering with Microsoft, Xbox Game Pass will join the hub at launch as well. Players will just need a Game Pass Ultimate subscription to access it.
