From your living room to a museum. That’s where TiVo is today as the digital video pioneer announced they were being added to a new year-long exhibit at the United States Patent and Trademark Office Museum in Alexandria, Virginia.
The new exhibit, called “The Invention Machine: A Day in My Lifeâ€, features everyday inventions that somehow impact people’s lives. TiVo’s contributions, the digital video recorder and the TiVo service, join the esteemed ranks of things like the toothbrush, seat belt, computer and alarm clock.
TiVo said their display showcases a living room decorated with the company’s logos and icons. A video loop highlights their Time Warp patent (number 6,233,389 for those who are interested), which covers the company’s proprietary technology for storing and playing back television programming.
“It is an honor for TiVo, and for me personally, to be placed in the US Patent and Trademark Office Museum,” said James Barton, Senior Vice President of Research and Development, Chief Technology Officer, and co-founder of TiVo Inc. “It isn’t every day that an invention is embraced by millions of people. To be featured in such a terrific showcase is a great day for TiVo.”
