Low-cost HDTV manufacturer Vizio has formally announced three new small-screen LCD televisions, a new sound bar, and a new 26-inch Full HD multimedia monitor. But the big announcement is literally large: Vizio plans to introduce a 55-inch LCD HDTV with a 120 Hz refresh rate, 5 ms response time, and a swatch of high-definition inputs (includig five HDMI ports). Downside? The 55-inch VF550XVT1A won’t be available for the holiday season…but customers might be able to get one in time for the Super Bowl.
“Vizio is committed to providing advanced technology to consumers at a value,” said Vizio co-founder and sales and marketing VP Laynie Newsome, in statement. “We understand the importance of value and it doesn’t stop at the price, consumers deserve performance, style, and great prices.”
The 55-inch VF550XVT1A LCD HDTV will feature Vizio’s Smooth Motion technology to eliminate motion blur in fast scenes, along with advanced noise reduction to eliminate compression artifacts in signals from cable and satellite operators. The panel itself is Energy Star 3.0 compliant and will sport a 50,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio, a 5 ms response time, and uses a 10-bit data input panel. The unit also has inputs to spare, with a total of nine high-def inputs: five HDMI inputs, Vizio’s own HD Game Port with HD Inputs one the side of the unit, along wth component, composite, S-Video, and VGA connections on the back. The VF550XVT1A also comes with SRS TruSound HD and TruVolume technology. Vizio expects the unit will be on sale in January 2009 at a suggested price of $1,999.99.
Can’t wait until January? Vizio is also rolling out three new LCD tvs, the VA19, VA22LF, and VA26 HDTV. The VA22 is Vizio’s smallest Full HD LCD TV, offering a 5,000:1 contrast ratio and a $349.99 price tag. The VA19 and Full HD VA26 are priced at $249.99 and $449.99 respectively; all three are available now.
Vizio has also announced its VMM26, a 26-inch Full HD, height-adjustable monitor with integrated illuminated touh fonrols that enable users to adjust display functions on the fly: just touching the bottom of the screen activated the monitor controls.
