About the same time Google was killing off Froogle Amazon, the big online bookseller, was killing off one of their online offerings as well. The Amazon Plog, which was a "personalized, targeted blog based on your purchases", was eliminated by Amazon and replaced by a new blog with an easier to remember name.
The Amazon Daily Blog, as described by an Amazon employee, is an evolution of Amazon’s blogging platform and something which will be available to all Amazon visitors regardless of whether or not they register. This new blog draws content off of other Amazon editorial blogs amassed around the giant online retailer’s Web site to create one single repository from which Amazon shoppers can get their news.
Features of the Amazon Daily Blog will include a degree of personalization which allows you to select which topics are displayed, quick links to other Amazon blogs, easier navigation of Amazon Daily archives and commenting and voting on posts.
Amazon added they are planning additional improvements to their Amazon Daily Blog in the future. This new offering is not the first blog of its type from a popular Web site – Google and Yahoo, among others, have official blogs where they announce new products and services for their users.
