Bowers & Wilkins, a British company which makes loudspeakers, has launched a premium sound system in the Jaguar XKR Portfolio. This sound system comes standard and is expected to debut in July when Jaguar introduces XKR Portfolio to market.
The mid-range speaker cones in the Bowers & Wilkins car audio system, according to the company, are made of kevlar and were designed after looking at 40 different prototypes to find the "best sonic purity of the signal." Aluminum was chosen for the tweeters based upon "stiffness properties required to ensure an extended, distortion-free high frequency response." The company worked with Jaguar on speaker mountings, angles and final system tuning, including working to devise a quality listening experience when the roof is down.
"We couldn¹t be more pleased with the level of performance in the XKR Portfolio," said Bowers & Wilkins Senior Automotive Business Manager Martin Lindsay in a statement. "Thanks to the commitment on the part of Jaguar and its suppliers, Bowers & Wilkins is able to realize a great sound system with sound-staging which is truly amazing. In the end, the only disappointment is not being one of the customers lucky enough to own one of these incredible cars."
