IFTTT announces new integration with range of partnering apps

IFTTT stands for “If this, then that” and the company provides recipes which automate certain processes to make life easier. All this helps to make your work processes more efficient. The firm’s website organizes the recipes for simple searching so you can stay connected and be more productive.

They connect products and apps in two different ways. Do Recipes are a simple button that you can push to initiate a process like automatically setting your smart thermostat or generating a phone call to get you out of a bad date. If Recipes run in the background and automatically do things if certain conditions are met such as saving a picture to your Dropbox if you post one to Instagram.

Now this automation is integrating with other apps to make the recipes available outside of the IFTTT website. In order to engage the recipe system, users would have to access the website and set up all the recipes they wanted to use.

With these updates, IFTTT has worked with integrating its formulas with apps for products like Ring’s video doorbell and Automatic’s car adapter. You can save IFTTT rules directly into the apps for these programs, allowing you to set up automatic processes without having to constantly shift between apps.

The list of partner apps includes Ring, Qapital, Foobot, Garageio, Automatic, Awair, Skybell, LIFX, Bloomsky, Roger, Abode ,and Stack Lighting. The integration is still in development, but users should expect to see it soon.

Microsoft recently rolled out Flow, its own program for streamlining your work. Flow integrates about 30 different services including email, task lists, and other productivity tools. While Flow can do some of the same things you can accomplish with IFTTT, it’s unclear if it will connect with all your smart devices. IFTTT still remains the best option for connecting all the devices and processes in your life as seamlessly as possible.

The Nanoleaf Skylight lighting up a room various shades of purple.

The Nanoleaf Skylight is a unique piece of hardware. Unlike most Nanoleaf products that are quick to install or easy to move and replace, the Skylight is designed as a permanent fixture in your home. Instead of simply plugging it into an electrical outlet, you'll need to hardwire it onto your ceiling – and once it's in place, you'll want it to stay there for years.

However, like all electronics, it's possible for your Nanoleaf Skylight to start acting up. And since there's no easy way to get the entire unit down from your ceiling, you might be wondering how you can quickly solve the problem. Thankfully, Nanoleaf designed a simple way for you to reset the Nanoleaf Skylight without the need to disassemble the entire setup.

Few robot vacuums and mops are as well-rounded as the Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra and Narwal Freo X Ultra. The Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra placed in its dock.

The Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra and Roborock S8 Max Ultra are two of the newest additions to the Roborock family. Along with having almost identical names, these robot vacuums share much of the same spec sheet -- including the ability to mop and vacuum in a single cycle before automatically emptying their dustbin and cleaning their mops. They're impressive gadgets by all accounts, but since they're wildly expensive, you'll want to carefully compare the Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra and Roborock S8 Max Ultra before adding one to your home.

If you need help, here's a comprehensive look at these two premium robot vacuums, including a comparison of their vacuuming and mops skills, a look at their docking station perks, and a final determination of which is likely best for your needs. Keep in mind that you really can't go wrong with either product -- after all, they're two of the most expensive robots in the category -- but one might be a slightly better fit for your household than the other.
