Now that social networking sites and user-generated content are seemingly the only thing in cyberspace anyone hears about anymore, Microsoft spin-off Wallop is setting out to let folks heavily into social networking “mod” their sites by installing creative add-ons to their social networking profiles…and creative a marketplace for Flash developers to sell their site-based bling.
Microsoft spun out Wallop back in April 2006, and now the company is aiming to redefine the face of social networking in three ways: enabling users to pimp out their profiles, by focusing interactions on conversation and content rather than profiles, and by creating a community where Flash developers can make money selling their site “mods” to social networkers who have to have the latest and greatest. Wallop aims to offer all the tools and tricks for users to enhance their “increasingly important online image”—and make some money while they’re at it.
