Making math cool is a tough sell, but you can’t blame Texas Instruments for trying. As part of this year’s annual back-to-school frenzy, TI has released new colorful editions of its TI-84 Plus Silver Edition graphing calculator, a staple for high school students across the country.
The calculators, which were once available only in sparkly silver cases, now come in pink, orange, purple and blue, with separate slide cases and faceplates to allow students to swap between them. To allow students further customization, TI also offers an online application where students can design and customize their own decals for the calculators.
The new, more colorful calculators retail between roughly $100 and $140 at different retailers. TI has a retail page that shows the different color combinations available at different stores, and students can choose their face plate and slide case colors separately by ordering directing from the TI store.
