The closer we get to the holiday season, the more great deals carriers announce for their loyal customers. In recent months, AT&T has offered a few promotions in which users who buy a flagship phone get another device at a huge discount. Now, those who buy Samsung’s metal-framed Galaxy Alpha will pay $0 down for the phone and get the Galaxy Tab 4 8.0 thrown in for just $1.

It may sound like a great deal — and it is — but there’s a huge catch.

To be eligible for the promotion, customers must buy the Alpha with an AT&T Next plan, and the Galaxy Tab 4 with a two-year contract. In other words, you don’t actually get the Alpha for free, you have to pay the full retail price of $613 over the course of several months, depending on which Next plan you choose. Meanwhile, you’ll get the Galaxy Tab 4 8.0 for just $1, but the tablet will be shackled to a two-year contract on AT&T’s network, so you’re out of luck if you suddenly decide to switch carriers. The tablet typically retails for $270, though, so you are saving money in that regard.

If you’re an AT&T customer who doesn’t mind being on a two-year contract for the tablet and a Next plan for the phone at the same time, it’s a great deal. You’ll essentially get a tablet and a phone for $614 and that’s the kind of deal you won’t find very often. However, if you have any reservations about signing a two-year agreement with the carrier, this isn’t the deal for you.

The details of the deal are listed on AT&T’s website as you go to buy the Galaxy Alpha. All the info is embedded in the small print, which you can read in full here.

Get the new Samsung Galaxy Tab S10 Ultra for as cheap as $400
The Galaxy Tab S10 Ultra on a stand

If you've got your sights set on the Samsung Galaxy Tab S10 Ultra, the good news is that it's already part of Samsung's tablet deals through its trade-in program. The device's 256GB model carries a sticker price of $1,200, but you can get an up to $800 discount if you trade in an eligible device, which means the tablet may be yours for as low as $400. There's no danger of stocks running out because it was just launched this month, but we still recommend hurrying with your transaction because the trade-in offer may change at any time.

Why you should buy the Samsung Galaxy Tab S10 Ultra
The Samsung Galaxy Tab S10 Ultra is equipped with a massive 14.6-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X touchscreen, but it's still comfortable to use because it's not too heavy to carry. Samsung ditches Qualcomm's processors in favor of the MediaTek Dimensity 9300 Plus, which delivers impressive performance improvements compared to the Samsung Galaxy Tab S9 Ultra while also improving the efficiency of its 11,200 mAh battery. The Samsung Galaxy Tab S10 Ultra is the first tablet built for Samsung's Galaxy AI, which offers a host of helpful features, such as Sketch to Image, which creates AI-generated artwork from your sketches.
