Here’s a follow up to our previous post on a set of dashing new colors for Google’s flagship handset: we now have an official-looking leaked picture of a red Nexus 5, supplied by the ever-reliable tipster @evleaks. If you’ve been holding off on picking up the phone in the hope that a wider range of hues might become available, it looks like you won’t have to wait much longer.

Of course, Google is remaining tight-lipped, but at this stage there seems to be too much smoke around for there to be no fire at the center of it all. Multiple sources and multiple tip-offs would suggest that it’s only a matter of time before the Nexus 5 is available in something other than black or white. It’s the way that the market is going too, with Apple’s iPhone 5C range and the vibrant colors of the Nokia Lumia collection.

If the rumors are to believed, you’ll be able to get yourself a shiny Nexus 5 in orange, yellow, green, blue and purple as well as red. A whisper from a Vietnamese site suggested these extra handset choices would appear sometime in February or March, so expect an announcement at any time.

Bear in mind that the current black and white models aren’t only differentiated by color: the black edition has a softer back that’s easier to grip, while the white version uses a glossy back case. It seems likely that the alternative colors in the pipeline will follow the white model’s lead and color in the front speaker grill too (as shown in the @evleaks picture).

If you want 5G, don’t use the Google Pixel 9 Pro Fold on AT&T
Pixel Weather app running on the Google Pixel 9 Pro Fold.

If you’ve recently bought a Google Pixel 9 Pro Fold and intend to use it on AT&T, there might be an issue you should know about. Some early adopters have reported that they cannot connect to AT&T’s 5G network with their new phone. Instead, they can only connect to the company’s LTE network, according to a Reddit thread (first spotted by Android Authority).

The Pixel 9 Pro Fold was introduced last month along with the Pixel 9, Pixel 9 Pro, and Pixel 9 Pro XL. It’s the latest phone to hit the market, and it’s the only one of the four handsets AT&T is not selling. However, this should have nothing to do with the growing 5G problem.
