The best Kindle Oasis cases and covers

If you’ve bought a Kindle Oasis, we congratulate you on snagging the best e-book reader around. It has a bright, sharp screen that’s always legible, and the stylish metal body is comfortable to hold — but you’ll need to take care of it if you expect it to stay in tip-top condition. The Kindle Oasis is one of the few e-book readers with IPX8 water resistance, so you don’t need to worry about spills or even dips in the pool, but it won’t fare so well against the sidewalk. It could also pick up scratches if you sling it in a bag unprotected. The sensible move is to invest in one of the best Kindle Oasis cases.

Note: These cases are all for the Kindle Oasis (2019). Many will also fit the Kindle Oasis (2017), as it’s exactly the same size, but check before you buy. The original Kindle Oasis (2016) has completely different proportions.

Official Amazon Premium Leather Cover

The Kindle Oasis is the premium Kindle model available, so it makes sense to pair it with some seriously premium protection. Amazon’s official Premium Leather case is exactly that — designed and created from genuine leather, this case will age with your Kindle Oasis, developing its own unique patina as it does. It feels great in the hand, has a magnetic closure method to hold the front cover closed, and is thin and lightweight. However, it comes at a high price to justify that luxury, so it’s not one if you’re looking for a case on a budget.

Dadanism Stand Case with Hand Strap

Hand straps are among the best ways to prevent drop damage as, well, your Kindle is attached to your hand. So if you’re worried about damaging your Kindle through drops, or just want to ensure a solid grip on your reading device, then this is a great case to buy. It also has a kickstand for easy reading on the go, a front pocket for stashing away thin items like tickets, and magnets that hold the case shut when close. Best of all, it’s a real bargain price.

Huasiru Painting Case

If something more colorful is your bag, this case from Huasiru is sure to please. With 17 designs to choose from — we love the Library design pictured — its durable synthetic leather outer and soft interior protect your Kindle, while the magnetic closure keeps it safe in your backpack or bag. This case features an automatic sleep/wake function, so you can quickly get back to reading.

Noreve Tradition Leather Case

For a taste of leather luxury, you can’t do better than Noreve’s Tradition case. This neatly stitched, folio-style case holds your Kindle Oasis snug and secure, and the cover stays closed thanks to magnets. There are cutouts for the charging port at the bottom and the power button at the top. The leather finish adds some durability, and if you opt for the textured finish, it also enhances grip. It’s comfortable to hold and easy to fold the cover back out of the way if you prefer. There’s a subtle Noreve logo on the front at the bottom right and you’ll find the name stamped into the inside cover, unless you go for the more expensive textured finish. Prices start at around $80 and go up to $145, but if money is no object, then we don’t think you’ll find a better option.

Fintie Flip Case

This is an interesting option that will suit you perfectly if you get tired of holding your Kindle Oasis while reading. The case opens vertically and you can prop your Kindle up at three different angles for easy hands-free reading. Or just fold the cover back and hold it in one hand. There’s also a microfiber lining on the inside and durable synthetic leather on the outside. You can get a plain black version or choose from a variety of patterned finishes. It’s a little bulky, but this is a practical case that won’t break the bank.

Moko Case

The Moko case is slimming and comes across as a subtle exterior for your Kindle. This case is well worth its price for its polycarbonate exterior shell, gentle microfiber inner lining, and faux leather appearance. We personally think the aesthetics of this product are elegant. You can find a more subdued color to fit your natural design preferences or bold artwork to make a statement with your case. Perfectly positioned cutouts give you access to everything you need. However, one thing to note is that the sleep and wake setting don’t work with the most recent Oasis model.

Official Amazon Kindle Oasis Fabric Cover

A fabric cover may seem like an unusual suggestion, but we love this as an option for your Kindle case. This Amazon cover has a cozy fabric exterior, available in several colors. It’s soft to the touch and comfortable to hold in one’s hands. With this case, you won’t be left to handle the slippery, cold, and hard metal cases that tend to be common choices for Kindle users. The material is also water-proof and has an improved grip. This slim, lightweight Amazon case poses no issues to the automatic sleep and wake setting. It’s slightly more expensive than competitors, but we believe it’s worth the price alone based on its functionality, appearance, and security.

Walnew Sleeve

Check out this easy sleeve option to slide on your Kindle Oasis after a long night of reading. The Walnew Sleeve features an exterior that resembles suede, and it’s available in light blue, khaki, pink, or gray. The top of the sleeve wraps around the Kindle and locks it in place with a magnetic device to keep it closed carefully. Its slim and minimal design makes it easy to fit this case in a purse or backpack as well.

Front profile of the Amazon Kindle Colorsoft Signature Edition

The 2024 Amazon Kindles have been announced, with many currently available or on their way to customers. If you’re considering buying a new Kindle, but are unsure which one to choose, it’s worth looking into which models offer wireless charging -- and which don't -- if convenience is near the top of your list. Check out our list of the best e-readers to see what other options are available to you, but for now, here's which Kindles have wireless charging.
Why buy a Kindle with wireless charging?
There are several reasons to that make it worth purchasing a Kindle that supports wireless charging, the main one of which is the sheer convenience it offers. With wireless charging, you won’t have to rummage through drawers or bags searching for a charging cable, and this ease of access contributes to a more streamlined experience, allowing you to focus on what matters most — enjoying your reading.

Wireless charging also significantly reduces wear and tear on the device. Traditional charging methods often involve repeated plugging and unplugging of cables, which can lead to frayed cords, damaged ports, and a shorter lifespan for the device. Simply placing your Kindle on a charging stand minimizes this physical interaction, promoting better longevity for the device and its accessories.
