The best Samsung Galaxy Note 20 cases and covers

Samsung’s Galaxy Unpacked event on August 5, 2020, saw the launch of the Galaxy Note 20 range, including the Note 20 and the Note 20 Ultra. With a slightly blockier design than its curvy cousin (the Note 20 Ultra), the Note 20 boasts a 6.7-inch flat AMOLED screen and 64-megapixel camera — and if you’re lucky enough to get your hands on one of these phones, you’ll want to invest in a protective case to keep it safe. There are some great cases around for the Galaxy Note 20, from soft leather wallet covers to crystal-clear TPU cases that show off the phone’s design. To make it easier for you to choose, we’ve selected some of the best cases currently available.

ESR Metal Kickstand Case

For something a bit different, this clear case with a shiny metal kickstand from ESR is a top choice. Not only does it look great when paired with the Mystic Green Note 20, but its durable TPU construction also keeps your phone safe from drops and bumps. There’s a raised bezel around the screen and camera which helps prevent scratches and damage if you drop your phone or have a habit of laying it face down. But the best part about this case is the silver kickstand. Adjustable up to 60 degrees, you can watch videos in landscape mode then flip it for video calls in portrait mode. If you’re always propping your phone up to use it hands-free, this is the case to get.

Mous Limitless 3.0 Case

Mous has a longstanding reputation for producing durable, stylish cases — and the Limitless 3.0 comes in a cool Aramid Fibre version that we love, as well as a sleek walnut variant, and a speckled black and white design. The case is constructed from polycarbonate and TPU — the same material used in riot shields — and each Mous case undergoes extreme drop testing, so you can be sure your phone is protected should it slip through your fingers. The design is slim, adding minimal bulk to the Note 20, and Airoshock technology provides even more impact protection. We love that the Limitless 3.0 case incorporates AutoAlignPlus magnetic mounting technology, so you can add magnetic accessories like the Mous leather card wallet or a variety of mounts.

Incipio Kate Spade New York Floral Case

Want a clear case with a bit of personality? Incipio’s Kate Spade floral case ticks all the right style boxes. This co-molded hardshell case not only fits the Note 20 perfectly, providing superior protection against bumps, scratches, and drops, it also features a shock-resistant bumper and easy-grip design to keep it firmly in your hand. The white and pink floral hollyhock design adds a bit of fun while allowing the cool color and design of your Note 20 to remain on display, and this case comes with an Incipio 1-year warranty.

Caseology Skyfall

If you’ve picked up a Note 20, then it’s likely you’ve chosen one of the Mystic Bronze or Mystic Green variants. Both are beautiful colors, so why hide them behind a case? Caseology’s Skyfall case allows you to keep your new phone protected with a seriously strong bumper, while the clear back shows off your chosen color. The bumper is made of lightweight materials, and it also has advanced corner protection to keep your device safe from drops and bumps. The back panel is made from hard polycarbonate, which wards off scratches, dirt, and unsightly fingerprints. It feels great to hold, and adds some much-needed grip to your phone. There are color variants of the case to match your phone’s color, and it’s slim enough that it doesn’t add a lot of bulk to an already huge phone. An excellent case with a lot to recommend.

Gear4 Battersea Case

Phone cases don’t come much more high-tech than this offering from Gear4, which incorporates D30 technology for the thinnest, most advanced drop protection around. D30 technology is found in gloves, helmets, and other protective gear worn by soldiers, motorcycles, and professional athletes — and this case claims to offer an impressive 16 feet of drop protection. Its hard shell provides edge-to-edge protection for your Note 20, with a soft touch, textured back for added grip, and an antibacterial treatment that won’t wear off over time. The Battersea case is compatible with wireless charging and comes in black with orange detailing.

Speck Presidio 2 Grip Case

The hunt for high-tech cases brought us the Presidio 2 Grip case from Speck, which utilizes Armor Cloud technology to protect your phone against drops. The tech works kind of like an airbag, with individual air capsules that flex upon impact, with Speck claiming this provides up to 13 feet of drop protection. Your phone screen will certainly be safe if you drop your Note 20, with a raised bezel around the screen protecting it from shattering or cracking. And with no-slip grips on the backplate, you won’t suffer a case of butterfingers while texting or taking photos. The soft-touch finish protects against scratches and has been treated with Microban antimicrobial protection — and you won’t have to take this case off to charge your phone wirelessly, either. This case is available in blue — our personal favorite — or classic black, and all Speck’s cases come with a lifetime warranty, making them well worth the cost of entry.

Burkley Carson Wallet Case

It’s hard to go wrong with leather, and Burkley’s versatile wallet cases are some of the best leather wallet cases you can find. The Carson is one of Burkley’s finest, being made from premium, full-grain leather. It’s soft and feels great, and the plastic bumper around the edge of the case itself adds extra grip and drop resistance. Its strongest selling point is that the case and wallet folio are fully detachable, so you can simply slip the folio on when required and use the case section separately when not. The wallet section has room for several cards and spare cash, and it can be folded into a handy kickstand. On the minus side, it’s expensive, and the magnet used in the case can sometimes interfere with the S Pen. But even with that, it’s hard to find a more stylish and versatile leather case.

VRS Design Crystal Mixx Pro

VRS Design is a company you may not have heard much from, but the Crystal Mixx Pro is a shining example of why you should keep a close eye on it in the future. We’ve really veered toward clear cases in this roundup because, well, the Note 20 is a stunning phone, but the Crystal Mixx Pro is the first case we’ve seen to add extra drop-protection in the form of an additional lanyard. The included lanyard can be secured to your wrist to make it even harder to drop your phone, and it will likely be a lifesaver for many phones. But it’s not all about the lanyard, and you’ll find strong dual-layer protection even without it, thanks to a shock-absorbant TPU bumper and clear polycarbonate back panel. A great little case for a good price.

OtterBox Symmetry Series Clear Case

Whether you opted for the popular Mystic Bronze or — our favorite — the intriguingly cool Mystic Green, you’ll want to show off your new Note 20. What better way to do that than with this clear, minimalist Symmetry Series case from OtterBox? Unlike some clear cases from other manufacturers, you can trust an OtterBox case to provide a high level of protection — this one has a dual-material construction with a shock-absorbent core and sleek outer shell with a scratch-resistant coating. Raised beveled edges ensure your screen gets that all-important extra protection against scratches and scrapes, and the slim design slips easily into your pocket. Winner!

Ghostek Exec 4 Wallet Case

If you’re looking for a wallet case but find flipping a leather wallet open just to see your notifications a pain, you’re going to love this case from Ghostek. With its hybrid TPU and PC construction, it’s military-grade drop-tested and offers protection against drops up to two feet. It’s also scratch-resistant, so you don’t need to worry about popping it in your pocket, while the raised bezel around the screen offers protection for those times you need to get on with work and want to place your phone face down. The best bit? Two handy slots to the rear have plenty of space for your cash, credit cards, train tickets, or ID — so you don’t need to take a separate wallet. This case comes in black or gray and offers great protection for the price.

Urban Armor Gear Monarch Tough Case

It’s not often you find a case that combines top-notch protection and serious good looks, but we think the Monarch Case from UAG does both. With not one, not two, but five layers of protection, including an armored frame, genuine grain leather layer, polycarbonate shear plate, metal alloy hardware, and impact-resistant rubber bumper, you’re getting serious protection for your Note 20 — and it looks damn good, too, with its carbon fiber finish. Together, these high-quality, tough materials protect your phone’s outer extremities, deflect and absorb impact, and provide a nice, tactile grip. A raised bezel around the screen ensures it won’t suffer scratches if you leave your phone face down — and this case exceeds Military Drop Test Standards twice, so your phone should stay safe even if the worst happens. With its heavy-duty, tactile TPU button covers, this is a rugged case that won’t be right for all tastes and budgets — but if you’re willing to shell out the cash, then it’s just about the best protection you can get for your Note 20.

Ringke Fusion No-Smudge Matte Case

For a clear case with a difference, this matte-finish frosted case is a must. Made from a dual layer of polycarbonate and flexible thermoplastic polyurethane, it has a semi-transparent, scratch-resistant finish that repels fingerprints, marks, and smudges. It may be slim, but it doesn’t skimp on protection, offering MIL-STD 810G-516.6 drop protection for drops of up to four feet, and inner corner cushions for added shock absorption. This case also supports wireless charging.

Official Samsung Clear View Cover Case

It costs a bit more than some of the other cases on our list, but Samsung’s official Clear View case provides protection for the front and back of your phone, so you won’t need a separate screen protector. This slim, lightweight cover is fully touch-compatible — just clip it onto the back of your phone and it folds over the front when not in use. Through the semi-transparent front cover, you can view the date and time, battery life, and incoming calls and messages, so it provides all the benefits of a flip case, without having to constantly open and close it. We’d choose the cool mystic bronze version, but it’s also available in black and a rather zen mint green.

Olixar Genuine Leather Wallet Case

With three slots for cards, your driver’s license, or ID and a handy wallet-style slot for your cash, Olixar’s leather wallet case is the only thing you’ll need when you leave the house. Available in a choice of brown or black, the soft grain leather features stitched finishing, making this case a super-smart accessory for the office. Although it’s lightweight, it’s surprisingly sturdy, offering all-around protection for the Note 20, with easy access to all the phone’s buttons and ports. The best bit? It folds out into a kickstand for hands-free Zoom calls or movie viewing.

The Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Flip 7 are set to get significant display upgrades
Samsung Galaxy AI on the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Galaxy Z Flip 6.

Samsung’s 2025 lineup of foldable phones is expected to be released next summer, but news about them continues to emerge. The latest update is quite significant. According to display supply chain industry consultant Ross Young (via GSMArena), the new foldable devices will feature larger screens.

This includes an 8-inch foldable main screen and a 6.5-inch cover display. The current Galaxy Z Fold 6 has a 7.6-inch primary and 6.3-inch cover display. Forget the Galaxy S25. Samsung may announce smart glasses soon
The Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses next to a pool.

As excited as we are about the Galaxy S25 and its upcoming release (and we're really excited), something even more exciting may be coming soon from Samsung. The company may reveal plans for a pair of smart glasses at the Galaxy S25 Unpacked event early in 2025, according to the Korean news site Yonhap News. The augmented reality glasses are expected to closely resemble a standard set of glasses and weigh only 50 grams, or about a tenth of a pound. The average weight of eyeglasses is between 20 and 40 grams, so these wouldn't be much heavier.

Don't expect them to launch right away, though. Only the reveal is scheduled for January, with an estimated public launch sometime in the third quarter of 2025. In addition, Samsung is looking to hire more people and "strengthen leadership in related departments" to ensure a steady development cycle. It would be Samsung's second new push into the wearables space in recent times. It launched and released the Samsung Galaxy Ring in July 2024, alongside the new Galaxy Watch Ultra smartwatch and its latest Galaxy Watch 7.

If you like Samsung’s Edge Panels, you may not like the One UI 7 update
Galaxy S23 back in hand.

You probably have at least 50 apps installed on your phone, if not significantly more — but you likely only use maybe 10 or so of those apps on a routine basis. Samsung's Edge Panels feature made it easy to access your most-used apps, but that feature is starting to go the way of the Dodo with the upcoming One UI 7 launch.

Samsung sent an email to users alerting them that Edge Panels will no longer work with the launch of One UI 7, and those users took to X to share the email. That said, it's not quite as straightforward as it might seem.
