Cingular Pushes Microsoft Direct Push Email

If you’re a proud user of (and your employer is a proud owner of) a Cingular 8125 Pocket PC, today may be good news day: Cingular is now offering Microsoft Direct Push email service and new Direct Push rate plans for 8125 users. The service enables users to receive email, Outlook, and Office information while they’re out galavanting in the real world, with the 8215 (or other Cingular-certified device) automatically notifying users of important new messages and data items without signing into a corporate network.

Microsoft Direct Push plans run from $29.99 for “Smartphone Connect” to $39.99 and $49.99 per month for “PDA Connect” on top of a monthly voice plan. The services require Microsoft Exchange 2003 Server with SP2, and users must have a Windows Mobile 5 device (like the 8125!) with Message Security Feature Pack and an email account enabled with Direct Push.

It looks like the iPhone 17 will get another big performance boost
Someone holding an iPhone 16 Pro.

Nearly 10 months before its debut, iPhone 17 series rumors continue to come in. The latest concerns the A19 chip that’s likely to be installed in some form on each of the 2025 iPhone 17 handsets. According to analyst Jeff Pu (spotted by MacRumors), the chip found on next year’s iPhones will be built on TSMC’s third-generation 3nm technology, known as “N3P.”

Rumors suggest the iPhone 17 and "iPhone 17 Air" will feature a regular A19 chip, while the iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max will get an A19 Pro chip. Both chips will use TSMC’s N3P process. This year’s iPhone 16 series phones feature A18 chips that use TSMC’s “N3E” process.

Google’s Pixel Weather app just got two new features. Here’s how they work
The Pixel Weather app on a Google Pixel 9.

The Pixel Weather app has been the focus of a lot of attention lately as Google revamps the user experience and adds more features. Now, there's more good news: two of those promised functions — the Pollen count card and immersive vibrations — are newly available, at least for some users.

Thanks to "immersive weather vibrations," the Pixel Weather app vibrates to match the animated backgrounds it displays, with intensity levels that mirror the precipitation amount (because it's not just rainfall), according to 9to5Google. Of course, if you don't like the feature, you can disable it in the account menu.
