HTC Droid Incredible Now Available on Verizon for $200

You waited after the rumors for it to be announced, you waited after it was announced for the first reviews, and you waited after the reviews for it to hit the streets. Scamper on down to your local Verizon store, it’s finally here. HTC’s Android-powered Incredible went on sale Thursday for $200 on Verizon with a two-year contract.

For those who missed the early buzz, HTC’s Incredible stakes its claim as potentially the best-equipped Android device out there with a 3.7-inch OLED screen, 1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, 8-megapixel camera, and 8GB internal memory with a microSD expansion slot. (As our own Stewart Wolpin noted in his review, battery life and call quality could both be better, though).

The current pinnacle of that line is the Google Pixel 8, which offers everything we want from a Google smartphone. It's fast, gets updates on day one, and has a camera that delivers stunning shots.
The Google Pixel 8 was revealed in October 2023, which means it's fast approaching its one-year birthday. Google has confirmed the Google Pixel 9's existence, and that means prospective Pixel 8 buyers now have a choice to make: buy the Pixel 8 now, or endure an agonizing wait and see what the Pixel 9 can offer.
It's a tough choice, but we're here to help make it a little easier. While we don't know for sure what the Pixel 9 will bring to the table, we have a lot of leaks and rumors to help us make a more informed choice.

Google Gemini running on an Android phone.

Google Gemini is getting a little bit smarter thanks to a small change recently discovered by 9to5Google. The AI assistant will now answer “general questions” even if your Android device is locked.

According to a Google support page, commands like “What’s the weather?” once required you to open your phone first. However, Google now lets you “get answers from Gemini without unlocking your device.”  Previously, Gemini could only control things like alarms, timers, and media while your phone was locked.

5 carriers you should use instead of Verizon

For those who live in the right place, Verizon can be one of the fastest mobile providers available. While T-Mobile ranks as the fastest U.S. carrier overall, that’s based on average and median speeds across the country.

This means there are still many locations where Verizon handily beats T-Mobile in coverage and performance, especially in dense urban areas where the carrier’s extremely fast high-band mmWave 5G service is available.
