The situation with the forthcoming release of the still unconfirmed Droid X2 is now officially ridiculous. Reports started circulating last week via an internal Verizon document posted by DroidLife that the new phone would be coming to stores on May 26, one week after pre-orders start to be filled on May 19, also known as this Thursday. The documents were technically leaks however, so confirmation eluded us, as it still does today even though the product is now popping up on Verizon’s and Motorola‘s websites!
The Verizon posting is fairly innocuous, an online store posting for Droid X2 accessories (a protective case and a Jawbone Bluetooth headset). Motorola though… there’s a full-fledged Droid X2 user’s guide right there on the site for everyone to see. There’s technically still not any kind of official announcement to point to… but yeah. Leaked release date docs. Accessories listing. User’s guide. This puppy is coming soon.
As an added bonus, the user’s guide also confirms what the Android phone looks like on the inside. Nothing that hadn’t already been outed, but unofficially official confirmation is nice. The 4.3-inch qHD display sports a 960×540 resolution, there’s a 1 GHz Tegra 2 processor from NVIDIA, an 8 MP rear-facing camera, 720p video capture, 1080p output and a total of 16 GB storage, split in half between flash memory and a pre-installed SD card. Coming next week. Probably.
