Got a lot of cash to blow? Looking to give people something to look at while you’re engaged in a virtual experience? Then perhaps a golden finish is exactly what you’re looking for. The plating specialist Goldgenie has unveiled the unabashedly opulent 24-karat Gold versions of Samsung’s recently released Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge.

The company is known for committing to these luxurious designs for some time, and the iPhone 6S got the same treatment last year. It also took the opportunity to release a special HTC One M9 design in commemoration of the murder of Cecil the Lion, one of the most popular animals at the Hwange National Park in Zimbabwe, whose sad story went viral.

Gold covers ever part of the two sibling devices, including the frame, buttons, camera module, flash, and backplate. The only thing left untouched is the glass at the front. If you must have it there as well, that will be entirely left in your hands.

In terms of features, there’s not much that differs from the original products. The standard Galaxy S7 retains its 5.1-inch Super AMOLED display, with the S7 edge coming in at 5.5. The processors are the standard Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 and Samsung’s in-house Exynox 8890 eight-core chip. The camera resolution is at 12MP with an aperture at f/1.7, phase detection autofocus, optical image stabilization (OIS), and an LED flash camera. Understandably, they haven’t settled for the relatively low 32GB storage version, instead opting for 64GB of internal memory.

One more difference in treatment comes in Total Armour Protection in addition to the phone’s default IP68 certification. Exactly what the Total Armour Protection is remains uncertain, but it’s added internally by the craftsmen at Goldgenie.

So if you find yourself flush with money that needs to be spent, and you’re looking for a more exclusive and shiny design, the gold plate finish is available for order globally. A purchase amounts to roughly $3,000 for the Galaxy S7 and $3,250 for the Galaxy S7 edge.

Samsung fans have been waiting with bated breath for the One UI 7 update, but we have bad news: it's been delayed until next year, according to the keynote speech at Samsung's developer conference.

One UI 7 will be released with the Galaxy S25 series, which will launch in January at the earliest. It's a relatively safe assumption that updates will roll out to older devices after that.

There's a new Samsung phone to talk about! It's not an industry-leading flagship, and it's not a foldable. It's the Samsung Galaxy S24 FE, and it's Samsung's latest attempt at a "value flagship" smartphone. Think of it like the Galaxy S24 Plus, but with a few spec downgrades and a $650 price tag.

I recently had the chance to go hands-on with Samsung's newest phone, and if I'm being honest, I'm not entirely sure what to think about it. Let me explain why.
The Galaxy S24 FE is a very, very big phone
