There are more juicy shopping deals around this holiday weekend than you could ever hope to take advantage of in the limited time available, but this one is particularly enticing for those of you interested in getting the latest technology on a budget: The OnePlus One can be picked up without an invite from the official site for a limited time.

The invite-only system that’s typically in force for these handsets is designed to help OnePlus manage manufacture and supply and prevent the small company from getting overwhelmed with orders. You can pick up the 16GB Silk White edition for $299 or the 64GB Sandstone Black variant for $349. OnePlus is also giving existing customers the chance to get discounts on accessories by promoting its wares on social media.

There has been talk of OnePlus dropping its invitation system completely, so this may turn out to be a permanent move from the Chinese manufacturer — particularly as the OnePlus Two is going to be out at some point in 2015. It will come with extended customization options, high-end specs and a competitive price; there are also rumors that a OnePlus wearable is in the works, but the company has refused to give any specifics so far.

If you’re still on the fence about whether this 5.5-inch, 2.5GHz quad-core mobile handset is worth your money, check out our full review. While we discovered a wide range of niggling bugs — which may or may not have been ironed out in the meantime — you do undoubtedly get a lot of processing power for your money. An average user review score of 4.5 stars out of 5 suggests that existing customers are pretty pleased with their purchases.

Get your orders in this weekend and OnePlus is guaranteeing a Christmas delivery — but only as long as stocks last.

OnePlus 13 confirmed to get a mixed bag of camera upgrades
Leaked image of OnePlus 13.

OnePlus has been steadily dropping bits of information as it gears up for the launch of its next flagship phone later this month. The latest tease sheds some light on the OnePlus 13’s camera hardware, which seems like a mix of small upgrades and a minor drop.

The primary camera will adopt Sony’s LYT-808 sensor, which is the same 50MP 1/1.4-inch format kit that we also saw on the OnePlus 12. This time around, OnePlus is extending 4K Dolby Vision capture support across all cameras instead of keeping it limited to the main snapper.

I tried OnePlus’ OxygenOS 15, and it’s much better than I expected
The OxygenOS 15 screen on the OnePlus 12.

Ahead of OnePlus announcing OxygenOS 15, Oppo showed off ColorOS 15, which has taken quite a lot of inspiration from Apple’s iOS software. Given how closely the two pieces of software are related, I was suddenly concerned that OxygenOS 15 would follow the same path.

I’ve now had some hands-on time with OnePlus’ latest software. Is it as derivative as I feared? Surprisingly, no.
Not a total iOS clone
